I just picked up, and started playing a basketball game which I will not mention. However, some ideas that I pulled from there that would be incredible for madden are:

Team Rivals- There really isn't much to a rivalry in madden. Like the Patriots and Colts in the 2000's, or the 49ers vs Raiders. Hell, step it up one more and get player rivalries like Brady vs Manning (Both of them)

Rival Score- Have a score for each teams' rivalry with you that changes after events like: a win or loss vs them, blowout wins, signing and old player of theres, how many times you meet in the playoffs

Also from old Maddens, the loading screen for each game would show stats against the team you were playing like all-time record vs the team, recent scores

Draft

Draft Board- Pretty simple. Something we have always wanted.

Mock Draft- Different mock drafts based on team standings/ needs/ player rankings to give you an idea if you may want to trade up or down in a draft

Training/ Medical

Team Training/ Development- Set what attributes/ ratings you want your team to work on
Player Training/ Development- Set what you want individual players working on
Injury Prevention- Make a medical staff that matters in madden

Historical Stats

NFL Records that go back further than 10 places
NFL Past Champions/ super bowls with score/ MVP
Past season awards- MVP, Rookie of the year,DPOY, ect
Past league leaders for each stat category
Hall of Fame
Retired/ Retire numbers

Team relocation
City, Name/ colors, stadium, uniforms
Upload/ download design
Expansion teams

Front Office/ GM
Roster-edit/ view rosters/ contract extensions
Trade- Madden is the only pro sports game that doesn't have a "trade finder" option. Basically you click on a player/pick you want, and a team tells you want they want in return. Also, I want to see teams offer me trades randomly without me having to put a guy/ pick on the tradebock
Free Agents- Have a year-round players/ staff (coaching) free agent pool to allow for midseason coach firings

End of season awards- I want to see an awards screen pop-up right after you simulate the pro-bowl with a screen that shows who won what awards

I am also tired of jumping from week to week having to complete tasks. I want to see a monthly schedule set up so you can see into the future on one screen. On the top it would display the following:
-fan interest
-record
-standings

Offseason
Player/ staff Retirements- Have a screen that shows the players who retired, so I don't have to find out about Tom Brady through a hiden story. Also allow us to override a player retirement

Hall of Fame- Prtty simple addition

Jersey Retirement- Select a retired players' jersey to be retired

League Meetings- Have the league vote on rule changes, but also give us the ability to over ride the changes incase they are a little too much

Realign league/ expansion team- Leave a slot in each division to add up to one team

NFL Combine/ scouting- Have an actual all-star game for us to play with college players before we draft them

NFL Draft- Add more presentation. The draft is boring in madden

Draft classes- Allow us to edit draft classes before the season/ scouting even starts. Also allow us the ability to somewhat randomize the draft classes so we don't know for sure who is actually the best player or not
