With the franchise turning 20 this May, Turn 10 has decided to make it extra special for the fans by bringing back Fujimi Kaido once again. Yes, the long-awaited Japanese track is finally heading back to the game, and we are just as excited as you are about it.

Why Is This A Big Deal?

The Fujimi Kaido has always been a legendary part of the Forza Motorsport franchise. It is a fictional paved road course near Mount Fuji, taking heavy inspiration from the actual Japanese mountain streets. Its absence since Forza Motorsport 4 made it a valuable puzzle piece missing from the later releases. After nearly 15 years, this mainstay of the franchise is making its triumphant return to the latest game.

Many Japanese tracks, such as Tsukuba Circuit, Suzuka Circuit, and Twin Ring Motegi, have appeared in the Forza Motorsport series, but they were more of a closed ring than a twisty straight. On the other hand, Fujimi Kaido was the only track to fulfill a typical JDM enthusiast’s urges who consumes movies and TV shows like Initial D and Tokyo Drift, thanks to its authentic Japanese experience.

A Challenging Track Layout With A Stunning Design

Fujima Kaido in Forza Motorsport 3

Fujimi Kaido was the ultimate showcase of driving skills and a go-to place for drifting enthusiasts to spend countless hours sliding their favorite JDM car in its natural habitat. The Forza series, either Motorsport or Horizon, has featured tons of JDM legends since day one, so this course was a great way to test them.

The track was a long way down (2800 feet) and stretched over 10 miles, nailing it on the list of one of the longest tracks in the game. As it featured tight hairpins, blind corners, and drastic elevation changes, only skillful players managed to smoothly slide their way towards the end. The track may seem easy to master, but the sudden transition from wide streets to often narrow spaces required extra control, which was a challenge for newbies.

In terms of authenticity, the design is as real as it gets — a highly detailed and stunning Japanese town, accurate road markings, tunnels, a waterfall, and much more. This circuit resembles the actual Japanese serpentine mountain roads used for touge drifting.

What to Expect with Fujimi Kaido

This ultimate Japanese mountain road has disappeared from the franchise twice. Fujimi Kaido came standard with Forza Motorsport 1 but was absent in 2, then made a triumphant return in 3 and 4. As its appearance was consistent, fans believed that this drift course was going to stay forever. Unfortunately, Fujimi Kaido didn’t return in the later releases until the recent update from Turn 10 brought good news for die-hard fans. The drift course will make its return to celebrate the series’ 20th birthday.

The work on Fujima Kaido didn’t just start yesterday. Turn 10 has been working on it since the release of Forza Motorsport in October 2023. Even if they had simply copied and pasted this track without enhancements, fans would have cheered regardless. However, the expectations are high, as Turn 10 is claiming it to be their biggest track project yet.

The track was last playable on the Xbox 360 in Forza Motorsport 4, and it was quite the stunner. As it will now be up to the standards of the latest hardware, we can expect a night-and-day visual difference. Beyond visuals, the track will feature 144 extreme turns and a 2,711-foot summit, giving players extra room to practice powerslides.

With less than two months left until the series’ 20th anniversary, the Fujimi Kaido will be set to welcome players in an update for the latest Forza Motorsport game.

The 20th Anniversary Update

Apart from polishing and integrating this legendary track into the latest installment, there is more to the 20th Anniversary update, according to Turn 10. Although the actual details are unknown right now, the players can expect highly requested cars, unlockable driver suits,  new special events for both career and multiplayer, and more.
