For most, Nintendo is known for its exclusive titles such as The Legend of Zelda, Mario, Kirby, and Metroid, to name a few. But don’t let this selection of proprietary titles fool you — Nintendo consoles have long had plenty for sports fans to sink their teeth into.
Obviously, Wii Sports was a massive thing back in the day. And even after Nintendo shifted over from the Wii to the Switch, sports gamers had more than enough to whet their appetite, with most AAA sports game offerings being ported over to the primarily handheld console.
So, which sports games are on tap for the upcoming Switch 2 console?
Sports Games Releasing On Nintendo Switch 2
Drag X Drive
Release date: Summer 2025
One of the more novel features of the Switch 2 will be its mouse function. One of the few games announced during Direct is Drag x Drive, a game that looks to make the most of this new feature.
Drag x Drive looks to be quite a unique title, to say the least. Essentially, it’s a 3v3 wheelchair basketball game that takes place in what one could only describe as a dystopian future. On top of that, players will have to control both movement and shooting completely manually. Right off the bat, it looks to be a cross between Rocket League and Mad Max. And I’m all for it!
I’d be lying if I said the controls don’t look like a nightmare, though. But who knows? Maybe it’ll control a lot better than it looks after some practice.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4
Release date: Summer 2025
Already one of the most highly anticipated titles this year, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 — a remake of both Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 — will also be on the Nintendo Switch 2 this summer. The title promises to capture the nostalgia of the original games, whilst providing them with a pretty new coat of paint to appeal to modern gaming sensibilities.
For other platforms, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is scheduled for release on July 11, 2025. However, the announcement trailer for the game’s inclusion on the Switch 2 only says “Summer 2025.” So maybe Switch 2 players will have to wait a bit longer than everyone else for the game to arrive on the platform.
Mario Kart World
Release date: June 5, 2025
Mario Kart has undeniably been Nintendo’s flagship series for the past several decades. Predictably, Mario Kart World — the series’ upcoming entry — will again be the platform’s headliner.
Combining the classic Mario Kart formula along with some new innovations, Mario Kart World promises to be another great entry into the franchise and will be a launch title for the Switch 2.
Fast Fusion
Release date: June 5, 2025
In case you can’t tell, Nintendo fans love their arcade racers. In the sizzle reel for upcoming games releasing for the Nintendo Switch 2, Fast Fusion is another such game that makes a quick appearance. I couldn’t find too much about it during a Google search, but it seems to be an arcade racer that honestly isn’t too dissimilar to Star Wars Episode I: Racer.
Luckily for people like me who are curious about it from the brief glimpse we were given, we won’t have to wait long for its release. Like Mario Kart World, Fast Fusion will be a launch title for the Switch 2 and will be available on June 5, 2025.
EA Sports FC & Madden NFL
Release date: TBA
During the Direct event, EA Sports announced that its flagship sports titles, EA FC and Madden, would both become available on the Switch 2. However, not many details on the two franchises’ inclusion have been shared to this point.
For one, we don’t know whether the current games in the series will be ported over to the Switch 2, or if EA Sports will find it more economical to hold off until the release of each series’ new games in the fall. All we know is that both EA FC and Madden will be on the convertible platform.
NBA 2K & WWE 2K
Release date: TBA
In lockstep with its primary competitor, EA Sports, 2K has announced that both the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series will be arriving on the Switch 2 eventually. However, no information on whether the ongoing titles in each series will be made available or if their inclusion only pertains to future releases.
MLB The Show Will Likely Be Available At Some Point

Though nothing has been announced, it’s likely that MLB The Show will eventually come to the Switch 2 as well. Despite ditching the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with its latest release, MLB The Show 25, the game is still compatible with the original Switch, which has likely held back the series’ progress.
Given that Sony and San Diego Studio both see the Switch as a viable platform for their baseball sim, it’s all but guaranteed that the Switch 2 will support the series sooner or later.
