All Wreckfest 2 Platforms, Confirmed

Bring mayhem everywhere.

Bugbear’s follow-up to 2018’s hit metal-bending, wheel-shedding, gleeful act of vehicular manslaughter has crashed into Early Access. It is still early days, but everything in Wreckfest 2 appears to be crunchier than the original, and the already-impressive damage physics have been dialed up a notch.

The first Wreckfest was a cross-gen title and received an update for the current generation of consoles. It received a notable boost across the board and was a proper upgrade — not just a simple 60 FPS boost. Here is whether the sequel will drop the old generations of consoles altogether to create the most uncompromised demolition derby experience yet.

All Platforms Wreckfest 2 Will Launch On

Wreckfest 2 will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. While the first game was available for both generations of consoles, Wreckfest 2 will be a current-gen exclusive.

For past-generation players, this should be no surprise, as we’re five years into this generation. It sure had a slow start, so many developers were previously hesitant to leave the old generation’s large install base behind. Things have changed, and many are fully prioritizing modern hardware now that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series have their solid base, particularly the PlayStation 5.

Wreckfest was also only released on PC at first, and the console versions were released a year later due to multiple delays. That doesn’t appear to be the case for Wreckfest 2, and there’s a high chance it’ll be launched on all platforms on the same date. We do not have official word on the exact release date of the game, though. All we know is that it is coming before March 2026 via the Embracer Group annual Q3 2024 report.

One other console that everybody won’t stop talking about for the whole remaining year is the Nintendo Switch 2. The original Wreckfest was ported over to its predecessor. However, we have no official details on whether Wreckfest 2 will follow suit. The rumor mill has it that lots of publishers will release their games on Nintendo’s handheld because the console has a staggering number of sales expectations.

Speaking of handhelds, the game should also be available on Steam Deck. We just don’t know how “smooth” it’ll be. The Early Access performance, based on the players’ responses, appears not so positive.

Is Wreckfest 2 Early Access Available On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X?

No, Wreckfest 2 Early Access is only available for PC, and it is unlikely we’ll see it being released on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. While the platforms aren’t certainly foreign to the Early Access format, they are rare.

That’s about everything you need to know about all the platforms Wreckfest 2 will release on. For more, check out all upcoming racing games to keep you busy until the release, or see where we ranked the original Wreckfest in our top 10 racing games for PlayStation 5 list.
