Takashi Okazaki Mike Mussina Battle Royale Season 6

Battle Royale Season 6 - Future Stars Anthony Volpe, Takashi Okazaki Mike Mussina

Battle Royale Season 6 launches today in Diamond Dynasty, replacing Season 5, and as usual that means we’re getting two new Flawless rewards. This time around it’s Takashi Okazaki Mike Mussina and Future Stars Anthony Volpe. The penultimate reward is a Prime Kevin Youkilis.

I have been lazy about finishing out the Live Series collections to snag Signature Series Mike Mussina, but he has been a menace to go up against at times this year. With this Takashi Okazaki Mike Mussina, that dominant sinker remains (with 99 control) to go with a cutter and knuckle-curve. His control is 90+ on everything but the slider. He also has 107 H/9.

We’ve also gotten some experience with Volpe this season, so the Future Stars Anthony Volpe should be comfy for those who know they like him. You’re getting a versatile middle infielder with elite contact, solid fielding, and great baserunning abilities. I do think Mike Mussina will be the pick for a variety of reasons (collections, pitchers being rarer), but Volpe looks quite solid.

Prime Kevin Youkilis

I have not had a ton of luck using Youkilis this year (the stance is just weird enough to throw me off), but I’ll still be willing to give Prime Kevin Youkilis a shot. He has nice versatility here, and you of course are getting the high discipline and great contact ratings.

Field Of Dreams Event

Field of Dreams Event

  • Any players
  • Minimum 60 overall players
  • Maximum 95 team overall
  • Field of Dreams Stadium ONLY
  • 3-inning games
  • Difficulty: All-Star
  • Free entries (as always)

So, uh, did the Field of Dreams stadium get a patch to fix the frame rate? If not, uh oh! I’m going to hope SDS at least finally fixed the stadium before unleashing this event. If they did, it’s still mostly uninteresting to me, but it makes sense to run this event with everything else going on in DD right now.

Rewards

  • 1 win – The Show pack, 500 XP
  • 3 wins – 2,000 stubs
  • 5 wins – 1,500 XP, Headliners Set 36 pack (x2)
  • 10 wins – 2,000 XP, Rewind Events pack
  • 13 wins – 1,000 XP, The Show pack (x3)
  • 15 wins – 2,000 XP, Finest Kris Bryant

Finest Kris Bryant

An old fan favorite, Bryant’s fielding might hold him back, but he’s going to mash against LHP.

  • 18 wins – 1,500 XP, Ballin’ Is A Habit pack
  • 20 wins – 2,500 XP, Future Stars Nick Lodolo

Future Stars Nick Lodolo

With Future Stars Nick Lodolo, this is another card that was a hit in a prior DD. I’m not sure he’ll be quite as likable this time around, but he’s still leading with a sinker and has a circle change to mix in to keep people off balance.

  • 25 wins – 2,500 XP, Rewind Events choice pack
  • 27 wins – 1,500 XP, Legends Takashi Okazaki choice pack (Soriano pack)
  • 30 wins – 2,500 XP, Tool Box choice pack
  • 35 wins – 3,000 XP, The Show pack (x5)
  • 40 wins – 3,500 XP, The Show pack (x5)
  • 45 wins – 4,500 XP, The Show pack (x5)
  • 50 wins – 5,000 XP, The Show pack (x10)

Headliners Set 36 Finest Grady Sizemore

Headliners Set 36 Finest Grady Sizemore

I feel like Grady Sizemore cards are usually a tough hang. They never have quite enough power or contact to get into elite status for the meta at that specific moment, and this is probably more of the same. Finest Grady Sizemore is technically a five-tool outfielder, but his ratings are just not able to meet the higher standards at this point in the year.

The odds on Headliners packs to pull a diamond are 1:10 (as always), albeit that diamond might not be Finest Grady Sizemore. In addition, this year you can buy one pack of the Headliners choice pack, which gives you 1:3 odds of pulling a 90+ overall diamond (and of course costs more stubs).
