Best Decals in Rocket League, Ranked

For all of your aesthetic needs.

Customization is key in Rocket League. Not only do we want to bring our unique taste of style to the game, but different looks can make our cars look more intimidating. As items in Rocket League are classed by different rarities, customization can be a great way to flaunt our collection to opponents.

Today, we are looking at the best decals in Rocket League. Decals are custom paint jobs with specific designs that go onto the car’s body. Rocket League allows you to customize these decals by selecting the color, and sometimes the contrasting color, so you can fine-tune the overall look. Different cars have different decals that you can use. This means you cannot use any decal for any car.

We will rank the best decals in Rocket League by their look, rarity, and popularity. So, if you have any or all of these decals, you know you have a seriously good collection.

How Do I Get More Decals in Rocket League?

The easiest way to get decals is through Blueprints, the Item Shop, and the Rocket Pass. You can also buy decals directly through DLC packs. Previously, you could get decals in Rocket League from Crates and Trading, but these features are no longer in Rocket League.

Rocket League also releases specific decals if you have competed in the Competitive playlist games. The higher rank you were able to achieve, the different decals you were able to unlock. The game also collaborates with different brands for special events. So, you can unlock decals by attending different events or playing the game at specific times. Some examples are the Twitch Prime decal and the Halloween decals.

Best Decals in Rocket League

1. Ombre

Cars Eligible: Octane, Fennec, Tyranno, R3MX, Harbinger
Paints: Yes, except Gold

The Ombre decal is a subtle customization option that makes your car instantly look more dimensional and exciting. The Ombre effect adds subtle highlights to the main features of your car. This includes the air vents, body lines, windows, and wheel arches. By introducing a gradual fade into these areas, our eyes are drawn to notice the form of our cars in a subtle but effective way.

The Ombre decal is ideal for Rocket League players who like to keep their customization subtle. It can produce a subtle glow effect when done well using a darker base color and a slightly lighter shade of the same color for the accent. You can also make the Ombre decal pop by using a contrasting Paint color to your primary color accent. If you don’t want to use the Paints, you can use the unpainted Ombre decal and then customize your look by editing the accent color in the Paint Finish section.

2. Interstellar

Cars Eligible: Universal
Paints: Yes, except Gold

The Interstellar decal is truly out of this world. It fully covers our cars with a galactic scene, showing interstellar dust clouds dotted by stars in the background. This is a decal that is animated. So, the dust clouds swirl around while the stars in the background subtly fall as if you are floating in space.

The best part of this decal is that it is highly customizable. You can use the Paint, primary, and accent color options to select different elements of this decal. The Paint option will determine the color of the main highlights of the dust clouds. The Primary color will determine the background clouds, and the accent will determine the flashing clouds on the top. Remember that the Paint you select for your car will be visible on the window and wheel arches.

The Interstellar decal ranks high on this list because of its immersive detail. There are loads of wheel, explosion, and trail options that you can match to the space theme, making your vehicle look more like a spaceship than a regular car.

3. Autobahn

Cars Eligible: Universal
Paints: Yes, except Gold

The Autobahn is an animated decal that brings a racetrack to your car body. The decal features a moving racing strip over the top of your body with four cars fighting for their spot for first place. You will notice the wheel aches have checkered flags waving in the air. You will also notice other roads fade from side to side to simulate driving on a highway (Autobahn is highway in German.)

Autobahn is a decal that needs a Paint option to look its best. Without Paint, the four animated racing cars are different colors and the main road stands out much more. This makes it seem like you have something on top of your car, and the whole look isn’t uniform. Using a Paint will make the road and the cars all a faded shade of that Paint. The best Autobahn looks come from using a single shade throughout the entire car, where the animation is subtle.

This is a great decal that also provides great customization. The Primary and Accent color options let you choose the colors for the roads that pass underneath the main racing strip. I like the look of the accent in black and the primary color matching the decal Paint.

4. Neural Network

Cars Eligible: Universal
Paints: Yes, except Gold

The Neural Network decal was obtainable from the Premium Rocket Pass in Season 5. You had to reach Tier 63 to unlock it for all cars. So, if you don’t have it now, you won’t be able to get your hands on it unless it rereleases in the future, which is unlikely. This is a decal that pro players love

Neural Network has a computer-like network pattern that slowly pulses over our car from front to back. On top of this, a rift is occasionally created at the top of your car, and an eye looks around. The decal’s Paint determines the network’s colors, and the primary color determines the car’s main color. You may not see the accent color while editing, but it lets you choose the iris color of the eye when it pops up. So, you may have to wait for this to fine-tune your edit.

This is a great decal for Rocket League players who like a techie/futuristic look for their car. This is one of the decals that looks great when using both a contrasting color for the Paint or the same color as the main body. Therefore, you have loads of customization options for this one decal.

5. Block Party

Cars Eligible: Universal
Paints: Yes, except Gold

Block Party is a decal that reacts to your speed. Blocks will extend from the front of your car and stretch all the way to the back. So, if you are stationary, you only have two lines of blocks. Once you start to move, you will get the entire car full of moving blocks, and when you boost, the front will turn a white shade.

The reactive element of this decal is what makes it special. It looks great when boosting around the pitch and makes it feel like your car is going faster. You can determine the color of the blocks by unlocking different Paint variations of this decal. Both the subtle Paints, like grey and black, and the loud Paints, like purple or crimson, look great.

The Block Party decal is the perfect customization for people who like to play defensive roles. You can camouflage and lurk in an unsuspecting position, then boost in to save the day before the ball goes past the goal line.

6. Lunation

Cars Eligible: Universal
Paints: Yes, except Gold

Lunation is another Rocket League decal that has an astronomical theme. The decal features a giant moon at the car’s top with smaller moons orbiting it. These moons all gradually show the different phases of the moon, from full to crescent, simultaneously. There are also smaller stars that orbit around the design in the opposite direction to the moons. You will also notice sparkling stars in the background that slowly wash over the black void of space.

The primary color selection will allow you to edit the shade of the main moon and the background stars. And the accent color lets you change the color of the orbiting moons. This approach to customization gives you a load of options to match different wheels or trails in the game. The Titanium White Paint looks great as it is the most accurate rendition of the moon.

7. Constella

Cars Eligible: Universal
Paints: Yes, except Gold

Keeping with the space theme, Constella is a decal that can be seen as a mix of Interstellar and Neural Network. It is a Luxury decal that was released as part of the Rocket Pass in Season 9 and was available at Tier 45. Constella gives a futuristic space feel without being directly out of this world. It channels the energy of a robotic sci-fi rather than what we know to be images of distant galaxies.

This decal features a subtle gradient that you can control with the primary and accent colors. The accent color highlights the front of the car and slowly fades into the space scene. This color will also highlight the network sections. The primary color dictates the network and the overall color. If you have Paint selected, this will overwrite the primary color for the network and fill these spaces.

You can make this decal look great in both contrasting and complementary colors. The contrasting approach is great for a neon/colorful look, as the network lines glow and slowly pulse light, so these parts end up looking like neon light tubes.

8. Huntress

Cars Eligible: Artemis, Octane, Breakout, Harbinger, R3MX, Tyranno, Outlaw, Nexus, Nomad, Maestro, Fennec, Mamba, Dominus
Paints: No

If you want the neon look, then the Huntress decal could be the one for you. This decal is simple but effective. The Huntress decal features a lot of black space. The car’s main features are highlighted by the colors you select for your car. The special element of this decal is that the lines in the body have an infinite mirror effect.

The infinite mirror effect pours into the black space of the decal. The lines are repeated and slowly fade after each repetition. This looks great and perfectly matches the Infinium wheels, which were featured in our best wheels in Rocket League article

The wireframe nature of the Huntress looks like something straight out of Tron. You can create this effect by ensuring that the colors you pick match. The primary color will control the body, whereas the accent will control the arches and other details. Remember that the Paint of the car will affect the color scheme.

9. Filiformer

Cars Eligible: Universal
Paints: Yes, except Gold

Now, we have another reactive decal to add a special touch. This Rocket League decal reacts to the beats of the song playing. The Filiformer decal has horizontal lines that span the width of the body. These lines then bounce according to the sound. These lines also flash and flicker in seemingly random patterns.

The decals, Paint, and accent color determine the lines’ colors. One accent line will be between two Paint lines throughout the body. This mixed approach is brilliant, as it looks great when using contrasting colors. The accent color will also be more dominant at the back of the car.

The Filiformer decal is perfect for people who like to listen to music to hype themselves up in the game. It is also a subtle way to let your opponents know you’re vibing.

10. 20XX

Cars Eligible: Universal
Paints: Yes, except Gold

The 20XX decal is similar to Filiformer in that it has lines across the car. Instead of horizontal lines, this decal has vertical lines across the car in varying sizes. These lines have a smoke-like pattern, occasionally brushing through the car, changing its entire color.

The 20XX decal is reminiscent of underwater creatures using different patterns on their body to communicate or warn others. You can replicate this in a psychedelic way by using a range of different colors. I prefer the subtle approach of keeping the main color and accent similar. You will also get some other shades as the 20XX decal alternates colors in specific areas.
