In EA FC 25, Squad Foundation players are free players you can unlock on Ultimate Team by completing particular challenges. Some of these challenges will be a grind, but they are worth it for these top players.
Of course, you won’t get Squad Foundation players who will be in the top squads. This is because FC 25 will always prioritize players you can get from packs or buy with UT coins. But these players are great if you are building a free-to-play team or want to fill up specific positions without spending any more money.
One point to remember is that the Squad Foundation players are not sellable. So if you wanted to do the challenges to sell the players for extra UT coins, then don’t bother wasting your time. That said, let’s look at the best EA FC 25 Squad Foundation players you can access today.
Best EA FC 25 Squad Foundation Players
Patrick Bamford
Overall: 88
Position: Striker
Pace: 88
Shooting: 90
Passing: 80
Dribbling: 86
Defending: 50
Physicality: 84
Strong Foot: Left
Skill Moves: 4-star
Player Roles: Poacher++, Target Forward++, Advanced Forward+
PlayStyles: Finesse Shot+, Chip Shot, Pinged Pass, Bruiser, First Touch, Acrobatic
Patrick Bamford is the best striker you can pick up on EA FC 25 Squad Foundations. This is thanks to a great mix between his pace and shooting abilities. Both his acceleration and sprint speed are rated 88, so he can keep up with the fast pace you need in online UT games.
Bamford’s biggest strength comes from his shooting. With 94 attack position and 93 shot power, you can rely on him to find space while also delivering a powerful strike, making him great for players who like to set up their striker rather than cross into the box.
Another reason to get the Bamford Squad Foundation card is his physicality. His jumping ability is 94, meaning he is likely to win aerial challenges. Combine this with his 90 heading accuracy, and you have a great way to set up counterattacks in midfield.
Bamford has Finesse Shot+ as his best PlayStyle attribute. This is brilliant for giving you that extra curve on your finesse shot and getting the shot off quicker. With the addition of his 93 shot power, you can create some beautiful goals even from from outside the box.
Mayumi Pacheco
Overall: 88
Position: Left Back
Pace: 89
Shooting: 60
Passing: 84
Dribbling: 85
Defending: 86
Physicality: 86
Strong Foot: Left
Skill Moves: 4-star
Player Roles: Fullback++, Attacking Wingback++, Falseback+, Wingback+
PlayStyles: Rapid+, Pinged Pass, Whipped Pass, Intercept, Anticipate
Mayumi Pacheco is a well-respected defender for Aston Villa who deserves a top card like this 88 overall. Thanks to her incredible pace, she is the best left back you can pick up through the Squad Foundation challenges.
Pacheco has a Rapid+ PlayStyle and high marks in both acceleration and sprint speed. All these elements together make for a brilliant LB that you want to play in a more offensive role down the wings. Along with these attributes, she possesses 94 stamina so she won’t run out of gas too quickly. Pacheco will be the player to look for once you have won the ball back and want to initiate a counterattack.
She has good dribbling with high agility, again making her an ideal player to start counterattacks. But her second biggest strength comes from defending. With 89 defensive awareness and 87 interception combined with the Intercept and Anticipate PlayStyles, she is a player who can change the game when in your defensive third.
Bethany England
Overall: 88
Position: Striker
Pace: 88
Shooting: 90
Passing: 80
Dribbling: 85
Defending: 45
Physicality: 79
Strong Foot: Right
Skill Moves: 4-star
Player Roles: Poacher++, Target Forward++, Advanced Forward+, False 9+
PlayStyles: Power Shot+, Power Header, Pinged Pass, Rapid, Press Proven, Aerial
Bethany England is the other striker you want to consider picking up in the Squad Foundations range. Like Bamford, she has a brilliant 88 pace and 90 shooting. This makes her better for players who value accurate shots over power and finesse.
Although England’s acceleration is slightly lower than Bamford’s, her sprint speed is slightly higher. These small margins won’t make a huge difference, but England will be slightly slower off the mark.
England also has a great short pass ability. Her Pinged Pass attribute emphasizes a player who is ideal to use for passing play inside the opponent’s box. Or, if you prefer crosses, her 92 jumping and 92 heading accuracy makes her ideal for goal-lurking. So, you have a few different options for reliable goal-scoring with England on your team.
Luke O’Nien
Overall: 88
Position: Center Back
Pace: 84
Shooting: 76
Passing: 80
Dribbling: 75
Defending: 88
Physicality: 90
Strong Foot: Right
Skill Moves: 2-star
Player Roles: Ball-Playing Defender++, Defender+, Stopper+
PlayStyles: Intercept+, Pinged Pass, Long Ball Pass, Slide Tackle, Relentless, Long Throw
Luke O’Nien is the best center back you can grab in the Squad Foundation challenges and the only CB featured on this list. Thanks to his physicality, he is ideal for players who like to play in a more aggressive manner.
O’Nien’s biggest strength is his physical attributes. Surprisingly, his strength is only 84, but this is made up for with 97 aggression. This aggression may not be great against super-strong attackers, but luckily, there aren’t too many of them.
His jumping is great at 94, but as his height is only 5’10” (179 cm), he is not the most suitable CB for defending corners. That said, he does possess an excellent 97 stamina. This is ideal for an aggressive play style where you can use your CB higher up the pitch. But beware, as his sprint speed is only 81 and he is prone to being caught out.
Overall, O’Nien is a great all-around CB with good shooting abilities if needed. With Intercept+ and 91 defensive awareness, he can add good value to an aggressive-minded team.
Ellie Carpenter
Overall: 87
Position: Right Back
Pace: 87
Shooting: 55
Passing: 83
Dribbling: 82
Defending: 87
Physicality: 84
Strong Foot: Right
Skill Moves: 4-star
Player Roles: Attacking Wingback++, Wingback+, Falseback+, Wide Playmaker+
PlayStyles: Intercept+, Block, Slide Tackle, Quick Step, Relentless, Long Throw
Ellie Carpenter is the first player on this list who doesn’t play in any of the English leagues. She is a right back with great defending and good passing abilities. Players looking for a fast defender who plays on the wing will want to pick up her card.
Her main strengths are her pace and defending skills. Her pace (88 acceleration and 87 sprint speed) makes her ideal for a defender who plays out on the wings. Her stamina is only 83, though, so I wouldn’t rely on playing her too high up as she will be out of gas well before the 90-minute mark.
Carpenter’s defending is good all-around. Her standing tackle at 93 and combined with her pace, she is tailor-made for robbing fast opponents when they are charging down the wings. Carpenter’s Interceptions are at 89, and she has Intercept+, making her ideal for harassing the offense. Even if the ball is just wide of her, her slide tackle at 89 should hopefully get the ball in your possession.
Another noticeable attribute is her 90 crossing, which means Carpenter is ideal for clearing the ball to aid a quick counter. I would play her as an RB who likes to dive right into play instead of lurking on the wings.
Finn Azaz
Overall: 86
Position: Center Attacking Midfielder
Pace: 90
Shooting: 85
Passing: 86
Dribbling: 87
Defending: 75
Physicality: 82
Strong Foot: Right
Skill Moves: 3-star
Player Roles: Box-to-Box++, Playmaker++, Wide Playmaker+, Shadow Striker+, Half-Winger+
PlayStyles: Relentless+, Finesse Shot, Incisive Play, Pinged Pass, Technical
I think Finn Azaz is the best attacking midfielder of the Squad Foundations cards you can pick up in EA FC 25. I say this purely down to the pace he brings to your squad because as we all know, good pace makes a huge difference in any FC game.
His acceleration is 88, and his sprint speed is 91. And with high stamina, he will be able to provide support up front to facilitate fast counters or even long runs up the field. Playing him in a Box-to-Box role is ideal for added support across the pitch, especially as his defensive attributes are high for an attacking player.
Azaz’s dribbling is another reason you want to grab this card, as he will give you loads of control with brilliant agility and balance. It’s a shame he only has a 3-star skill move rating. Otherwise, he would make a really fun player to play with. Additonally, his passing is excellent and has high vision and short-passing.
You will ideally want to use Azaz as a player who can quickly change the direction of play as he is great at helping set up other players in better positions. And with 90-shot power and 86 long shots, Azaz is equipped to put a quality shot on goal from distance if need be.
Nikita Parris
Overall: 86
Position: Right Midfielder
Pace: 92
Shooting: 86
Passing: 83
Dribbling: 87
Defending: 50
Physicality: 74
Strong Foot: Right
Skill Moves: 4-star
Player Roles: Winger++, False 9++, Inside Forward+, Advanced Forward+
PlayStyles: Trivela+ Power Shot, Pinged Pass, Rapid, First Touch
Nikita Parris is the fastest player on this list. She has a 92 overall pace rating with 94 acceleration and 91 sprint speed. These incredible stats make her well worth picking up on Squad Foundations. The only downside is that she has 83 stamina, so you may want to use her as a super sub or limit her starts to a 60-minute shift.
In addition to her brilliant pace, her shooting and dribbling skills are also on point. Parris’ dribbling and shooting make her an ideal winger to make fast runs down the wing with a shot attempt at the end. She can even take long shots, with that attribute at 87 and shot power also at 87. Her high attack positioning also means she will find gaps when off the ball.
Her weakness comes from her lack of defensive ability, making her more suitable for a formation or tactic that doesn’t have her drop back too far. Instead, keep her high up the pitch and use her as a means to speed up the attack in transition.
Juan Fernando Quintero
Overall: 86
Position: Center Attacking Midfielder
Pace: 84
Shooting: 86
Passing: 88
Dribbling: 90
Defending: 55
Physicality: 72
Strong Foot: Left
Skill Moves: 4-star
Player Roles: Playmaker++, Shadow Striker+, Half-Winger+, Wide Playmaker+
PlayStyles: Pinged Pass+, Finesse Shot, Dead Ball, Technical, Flair
Juan Fernando Quintero is a great all-around attacking midfielder who is ideal for people looking for a support attacker with great dribbling and passing with the skills to score goals as well. However, you can’t get him to do it all, as his pace and stamina are not the best.
Quintero’s dribbling attributes are ideal for players with a good grasp on player movement in EA FC, possessing high marks in balance, agility, ball control, and composure. It’s a shame his strength is only 70, otherwise he would be a great player to hog the ball.
His shooting is another big strength. If you’re lacking a good free-kick taker on your team, Quintero might be the answer to your problems — the midfielder has 92 free kick accuracy with 94 shot power and 89 long shots. So consider picking him up if you like having a go from outside the box.
I would suggest playing him in a slow and controlled manner. So, don’t run with the ball; instead, control the ball to see if any avenues open up with other players. If not you can always have a crack at goal.
Todd Cantwell
Overall: 86
Position: Center Attacking Midfielder
Pace: 85
Shooting: 80
Passing: 85
Dribbling: 88
Defending: 55
Physicality: 70
Strong Foot: Right
Skill Moves: 5-star
Player Roles: Half-Winger++, Wide Playmaker+, Playmaker+
PlayStyles: Pinged Pass+, Finesse Shot, Incisive Play, Intercept, Technical, Flair, First Tough, Relentless
Todd Cantwell is another attacking midfielder worth picking up from the Squad Foundations options. His best attribute is his dribbling, and he has five-star skill moves. This makes Todd an ideal player for people familiar with FC skill moves who want to add more flair to their UT.
His high agility, balance, composure, and ball control all add up to create a player who is great at holding onto the ball. His passing is also good, with 90 vision and 87 short pass. Cantwell is great for someone who has mastered the game’s movement mechanics, which might make him less than ideal for more intermediate players.
The downsides to Cantwell’s card are that his shooting and defending are not great. This means you will want to use him as a player who sets up plays and moves the ball.
Marcus Acuña
Overall: 86
Position: Left Back
Pace: 88
Shooting: 76
Passing: 84
Dribbling: 85
Defending: 83
Physicality: 86
Strong Foot: Left
Skill Moves: 3-star
Player Roles: Wingback++, Fullback+, Wide Playmaker+
PlayStyles: Long Ball+, Power Shot, Anticipate, Bruiser, Flair, Relentless, Trivela
Marcus Acuña is an Argentinian left back who is excellent if you want a solid defensive player with great pace. His pace is the selling point, and as an fullback, you can play him as a more attacking-minded defender, making Acuña great for people who like an all-around attacking setup.
His acceleration and sprint speed are both good, but the biggest impact comes from his 91 stamina. Such a high rating in that category means you will be able to trust him running up and down that wing without sputtering out too quickly. And his dribbling is great, so he can do all this while still holding on to the ball.
I really like Marcus Acuña as a hybrid attacking fullback on the wing. A big positive is that he has Long Ball+ as a PlayStyle and high crossing. Attributes like this make him ideal for sending the ball into the mixer or setting up long ball counterattacks. His 90 curve can also place the ball in the perfect place if you’re skilled enough to execute lofty through balls.
