Choosing a wide receiver as your player position for a Road to Glory playthrough in College Football 25 has been a pretty popular choice. Getting to actually run routes, block defensive backs, and make spectacular catches from the eyes of a receiver is a one-of-a-kind experience. However, choosing to play the WR position will lead to some difficult choices as you progress through Road to Glory in College Football 25.
Most notably, you’ll eventually have to select a specific archetype for your WR. This determines their traits on the field, which in turn molds them into a specific type of receiver. This is a big choice for your player in Road to Glory, so you don’t want to select the wrong archetype and then regret it down the line. So, to help you make the best decision possible, I’ll go over what we believe to be the best overall WR archetype in College Football 25.

You’re able to select from any of these three archetypes after choosing your position in Road to Glory. While the stats and abilities can help you make a decision, what’s really the best choice when you start playing as a receiver?
Best WR Archetype In Road to Glory

Let’s start with the archetype you likely don’t want to select. While it could be fun to race down the sidelines and make some incredible catches from time to time, the Physical WR archetype is probably the worst out of the three options. The abilities in the Physical WR Archetype aren’t overly useful if you’re solely focused on playing the receiver position and the stats severely limit your receiver’s overall effectiveness on the field.
As a Physical WR, you’re going to be mostly limited to running straight line routes in press coverage and trying to make 50/50 catches. The archetype’s stats don’t offer any shiftiness to beat defensive backs with routes. Of course, if that’s your preferred receiver, then the Physical archetype is made for you.
Now let’s move on to the other two more preferable options, starting with the Route Runner WR. As you might expect, this WR archetype is meant for a slot receiver who is highly elusive and can run routes all over the middle of the field and toward the sideline. The Route Runner WR doesn’t have the best 50/50 catch ability, but you’ll be able to lose defensive backs with cuts and more complicated routes.
Finally, the Deep Threat WR archetype offers you a little bit of both of the other archetypes. You get improved double move routes and direction changing while also being able to get off the line quicker and better dive catches. This is a do-it-all kind of receiver, similar to someone like Justin Jefferson.
Of course, if I’m making that comparison, you can likely guess what archetype I think is the best. While the Route Runner archetype is certainly enticing if you’re planning to play as a smaller and quicker WR, the Deep Threat WR possesses all of the stats and abilities you want in a receiver. It appeals to all types of players and allows you the most versatility at the position. You can effectively run short routes to move the sticks or go deep for a long ball while leaving your defender in the dust. The Deep Threat WR archetype simply isn’t as limited as the other two options.
So there you have it, the Deep Threat WR is our pick for the best WR archetype in College Football 25 Road to Glory.
