All-Star Event

All-Star Event

  • All-Star and Home Run Derby cards
  • Live Series
  • Program Legends and Flashbacks
  • Maximum team overall of 99
  • 3-inning games
  • Difficulty: All-Star
  • Free entries (as always)

This should be a relatively standard event. We see these sorts of events in the middle of the larger Featured Programs to give folks ample opportunities to grind for XP with particular sets of players while also chasing some new player rewards in the form of Finest Dontrelle Willis and Bill Mazeroski. The teams you see should be relatively different (minus pitching), but it will also depend on how deep people are in the Featured Program and how much was poured into buying Home Run Derby cards.

Rewards

  • 1 win – The Show pack, 500 XP
  • 3 wins – 2,000 stubs
  • 5 wins – 1,500 XP, Headliners Set 33 pack
  • 10 wins – 2,000 XP, Rewind Events pack
  • 13 wins – 1,000 XP, The Show pack (x3)
  • 15 wins – 2,000 XP, Finest Bill Mazeroski

Finest Bill Mazeroski

Maz should probably end up as the more exciting card of the two in this event. We usually get insane fielding Maz cards that just can’t hit enough, but this one might break the mold. He’s got good stats from both sides of the plate to go with the usual impressive 99 fielding. He only has 60 speed, but it’s really about the only downside outside of having no secondary positions. Second base is a tough nut to crack right now, but for veterans who have wanted to use a viable Mazeroski the last couple years, this is probably your best shot.

  • 18 wins – 1,500 XP, Ballin’ Is A Habit pack
  • 20 wins – 2,500 XP, Finest Dontrelle Willis

Finest Dontrelle Willis

Finest Dontrelle Willis just looks very unappetizing. He has a decent pitch mix, but he was so bad early in the year that I just do not have much faith in this upgraded version. Not enough has changed, and his underlying attributes don’t look impressive enough to sway me. I was hoping his delivery would be funky enough to give him an edge, but it’s just not enough to make him fun to use most of the time. He has solid control of most of the pitches and 99 break on his slider, but I’m going to assume this card is another miss.

  • 25 wins – 2,500 XP, Rewind Events pack
  • 27 wins – 1,500 XP, Always Intense 1 choice pack
  • 30 wins – 2,500 XP, Always Intense 2 choice pack
  • 35 wins – 3,000 XP, The Show pack (x5)
  • 40 wins – 3,500 XP, The Show pack (x5)
  • 45 wins – 4,500 XP, The Show pack (x5)
  • 50 wins – 5,000 XP, The Show pack (x5)

Headliners Set 33 Future Stars Robert Hassell III

Headliners Set 33 Future Stars Robert Hassell III

Like with most Future Stars cards, I’m not really sure how to judge this card. It looks decent for a center fielder with not much downside minus the power, but it also looks like discipline and clutch ratings are doing a lot of heavy lifting for the overall rating. Coming out of the Future Stars Program, most of the hitters just felt very same-y to me, and I just assume that will be the case here as well. Maybe this card will surprise, but if it does, I suspect most people still won’t know about him.

The odds on Headliners packs to pull a diamond are 1:10 (as always), albeit that diamond might not be Future Stars Robert Hassell III. In addition, this year you can buy one pack of the Headliners choice pack, which gives you 1:3 odds of pulling a 90+ overall diamond (and of course costs more stubs).
