On top of the new Featured Program, the other news today for Diamond Dynasty is the Sizzling Summer Event and Headliners Set 27 Finest Brandon Webb. The event features a Signature Series Jay Buhner (helpful for collections) and an awards Carlos Santana (ditto).
Sizzling Summer Event
- NL West, AL West pitchers
- NL East, NL Central hitters
- Any Monthly Awards, Topps Now players
- Max team overall of 93
- 3-inning games
- Difficulty: All-Star
- Free entries (as always)
Rewards
- 1 win – 500 XP, The Show pack
- 3 wins – 2,000 stubs
- 5 wins – 1,500 XP, Headliners Set 25 pack
- 10 wins – Rewind Events pack, 2,000 XP
- 12 wins – Signature Series Jay Buhner, 1,500 XP
I do think the biggest deal here is getting another Signature Series player if you’re still pursuing George Brett. That said, I also love using Jay Buhner cards. The power is real, and this card has really solid fielding if we remove the 52 speed. He’s got a cannon for an arm and should be a solid gold defender. This is a nice win for all players if you get to this win threshold.
- 15 wins – 2,500 XP, Awards Carlos Santana
I should not have to talk up a Carlos Santana card at this point in Diamond Dynasty. He was lacking a good card to use until now, so it’s good to have him back here. He does not have a catcher secondary here, which obviously hurts, but I do still think he’ll be on plenty of benches throughout DD lineups.
- 18 wins – Ballin’ Is A Habit pack (x2)
- 20 wins – Rewind Events pack, 2,500 XP
- 23 wins – The Show pack (x3)
- 27 wins – Always Intense 1 choice pack
- 30 wins – Always Intense 2 choice pack, 2,500 XP
- 35 wins – 2,500 XP, The Show pack (x5)

- 50 wins – 2,500 XP, The Show pack (x5)
Headliners Set 27 Finest Brandon Webb
Brandon Webb is a tough one to get a read on year to year. His sinker should still be good, but he’s not bringing the top-end velocity and has generally struggled to find a place in rotations in DD. Having the cutter and changeup should add to his chances, but he’s still only got 88 H/9 and just doesn’t have power stuff overall. I question how much he sticks around (his price is really low already on launch), but it’s nice having another cool looking Finest card around.
The odds on Headliners packs to pull a diamond are 1:10 (as always), albeit that diamond might not be Finest Brandon Webb. In addition, this year you can buy one pack of the Headliners choice pack, which gives you 1:3 odds of pulling a 90+ overall diamond (and of course costs more stubs).
I missed the Awards Curtis Granderson card earlier in the week, so I also have to at least give him a quick mention because he’s one of my favorite DD players. An absolutely ideal lefty swing, you just cope with the strikeouts and hit plenty of dingers. His price is very reasonable as well, so it seems like maybe outfielders are just so abundant it’s hard for any of them to really go crazy in terms of pricing.
