Does Wreckfest 2 Have Crossplay?

Can players on different platforms enjoy Wreckfest 2 together?

Bugbear is back with another crash course on why cornering is so stupid when you can just ram another car and send its rocker, fender, hood, door, and so much more flying. That’s the kind of twisted-metal carnage Wreckfest 2 expects us to chase.

Delivering pure, unfiltered mayhem wasn’t ever the problem with these games, however. One of the biggest frustrations from the original Wreckfest was the lack of cross-play support. Here’s whether or not that has changed with the follow-up.

Will Wreckfest 2 Have Crossplay Support On Launch?

It is currently unclear whether Wreckfest 2 will support full crossplay when it launches in v1.0. Bugbear has yet to share any information regarding crossplay. The title is currently in Early Access — which is limited to PC via Steam — so any kind of crossplay is obviously out of the picture for now.

The original Wreckfest did not feature crossplay between platforms, and you could only play with players within the same console family, like PlayStation 4 players with PlayStation 5. Even for PC, crossplay between storefronts arrived years after its initial release.

Even though history suggests that crossplay is unlikely for Wreckfest 2, we cannot entirely rule it out just yet. We are still in the early days as Early Access has just kicked off. It is said to launch towards the end of this fiscal year, which means we’ll get it by late 2025 at the earliest or anytime before March 2026. All we mean is there is still time and possibility that the game comes with full crossplay support out of the gate.

Crossplay is always one of the most requested features and has been a staple for many racers in recent years. Not just because you get to tune in with your friends on different platforms, but it makes for a shorter matchmaking queue, especially when the game dwindles in popularity late into its lifecycle.

Is There Split Screen Support In Wreckfest 2?

Yes, Wreckfest 2 will feature split screen mode across all platforms when it fully releases. Bugbear has mentioned it in the description for the game: “…if you have a friend at home, try the brand new split screen mode for unbeatable local fun.”

So, while we don’t know whether you can party up with your friends on different platforms, you sure can call your close ones for local couch co-op. Be warned, though, this could potentially ruin your friendship. That’s why it’s a pro move to have no real-life friends at all — you can’t ruin friendships by playing Wreckfest 2 split screen if you don’t have one in the first place! Does Wreckfest 2 Feature Cross-Platform Progression?

There is no official word on whether Wreckfest 2 will let you carry your progression between platforms. It is unlikely to feature it as the first game did not have any form of cross-save, and unlike crossplay, cross-progression is not very common.

That’s everything about Wreckfest 2 and all the support it has for cross-platform play. We’ll keep you informed if any news regarding it pops up. Until then, check out the list of cars available in Early Access and all the other features the game has.
