EA FC 25 Grassroot Greats: Leaks, Predictions, and Everything to Know

We will be there, no matter what.

Grassroot Greats is a brand-new promo that is confirmed to be introduced during Season 5 of EA Sports FC 25. While there are no official details to go by, expect it to be the same as any other promo in the game — pack the new and cool-looking themed cards for your Ultimate Team squad.

Several cards that will be featured have also been leaked including one all-time great that will surely make the headlines. Below is absolutely everything you need to know about Grassroot Greats in EA FC 25.

What Is The Grassroot Greats Promo In EA FC 25?

Per leaks, Grassroot Greats will bring some of the most popular cards from the Ultimate Team’s history to EA FC 25. We’re talking about cards of relatively less-known players who were stupidly overpowered, for whatever odd reasons, and terrorized us all.

Think of El Shaarawy in FIFA 12, Alexander Esswein in FIFA 13, Chikhaoui in FIFA 15, or some of the more recent examples of Chris Smalling or Hatem Ben Arfa. You’ll either get misty-eyed hearing those names or a Vietnam War flashback. The players we listed are just examples and not necessarily the ones that will be featured. But given how broken they were, we would be surprised if at least one of them wasn’t included.

All that means is that this promo is for the old-timers. You won’t feel left out if you’re new, though, as it is likely that EA will also add some Icon cards.

When Will EA FC 25 Grassroot Greats Start?

If we follow the usual schedule for new promos in EA FC 25, Grassroot Greats should be released on either February 14, 2025, or a week later, on February 21

The Future Stars promo is ending on February 14, and the likely candidate for the next one is Road to the Final, as we’re about to enter the knockout rounds of the European competitions. EA also mentioned in its blog post that “rewards for [Season 5] Champions, Rivals & Squad Battles will be updated with guarantee packs including Future Stars, Grassroot Greats, and FUT Fantasy items.”

Combine that with the in-game timer confirming Season 5 to end on March 13, 2025, leaving February 21 as the most likely date for Grassroot Greats. Of course, the release date is a guess no matter how educated, but either February 14 or 21 is practically a confirmed date for the promo.

The headliner here is, obviously, Maradona. No introduction is necessary for the Argentinian legend, and he’ll likely be part of the promo as an Icon card. Leaks will eventually reveal most of the players that’ll be part of the promo well before EA does — a tale as old as time. EA may drop a few cards before to build up excitement, however.

Most of the cards will be available through packs and some through SBCs or Objectives. We’ll keep you in the loop about the promo, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled on our EA FC 25 coverage.

Predictions For EA FC 25 Grassroot Greats

FIFA/EA FC as a series has been going on since the 90s, and we don’t know if EA will dial that far back in time for the promo. They’ll most likely introduce cards from the 2010s era. Anyone whose prime era was beyond that will likely be included as an Icon.

So, for our predictions, we’ve listed as many players as we could remember from the past decades that our rosy retrospection tells us was a very good time. Here are our best guesses for who will be included in the Grassroot Greats promo:

  • Gabriel Agbonlahor
  • Romain Alessandrini
  • Yannick Bolasie
  • Chikhaoui
  • Chris Smalling
  • Daniele De Rossi
  • Seydou Doumbia
  • Stephen El Shaarawy
  • Emmanuel Emenike
  • Alexander Esswein
  • Fabrizio Miccoli
  • Gervinho
  • Hatem Ben Arfa
  • Víctor Ibarbo
  • Diego Maradona
  • Emmanuel Mayuka
  • Radja Nainggolan
  • Nilmar
  • Ike Opara
  • Ricardo Quaresma
  • Daniel Sturridge
  • Adel Taarabt
  • Taye Ismaila

While these predictions may be wrong, there is no denying these deserve a shout for being ordinary cards that achieved legendary performances. We missed some popular names on purpose, so you could remind us of them below in the comments.
