Just yesterday, I wrote this article about what improvements I’d like to see in Clubs mode for EA FC 26. One of the things I requested was more stability in the mode, as it breaks way too easily and is way too prone to certain glitches that makes getting into matches a real pain. Right on cue, EA FC 25 introduced a live stability update. And surprise! It made Clubs the complete opposite of “stable.”

To summarize, many Clubs players have complained that when joining a team lobby in Clubs mode, they are hit with an error message urging players to download the latest roster update. Subsequently, players would be kicked from the lobby. Despite many players applying a roster update, the issue persisted and many were left unable to play matches, be it traditional small-man or 11v11 matches. The problem didn’t effect everyone, but enough had difficulties to the point of many tournaments and Discord leagues temporarily suspending play until EA actually fix the issue.
As of right now, there isn’t a definitive fix that players can apply on their end. But some have found success with deleting some settings.
According to @TheVFL_ on Twitter, players are recommended to follow these steps in order to fix the roster update issue in Clubs:
- Start EA FC 25
- Go to the main menu
- Go to Settings, apply the most recent squads update
- Close the EA FC 25 application
- Restart the game
- Go into Clubs
While many have had success with this method, some have had to repeat these steps multiple times before it works.
Given EA’s history when it comes to Clubs support and hot fixes, it remains to be seen whether or not anything will be done to fix this game-breaking bug, or if a fix even solves the issue (looking at you, Friendlies glitch that existed for three straight titles).
Regardless, for now, players will be left to their own devices when it comes to being able to access and play Clubs.
