EA FC and Madden Will Be Available for Nintendo Switch 2

EA Sports' two biggest titles will be coming to the Switch 2.

As announced during Nintendo Direct this morning, the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on June 5, 2025. Shortly after the release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 was revealed, EA Sports announced that EA FC and Madden, easily its two most popular sports franchises, will both be coming to the platform.

As of now, we’re not sure if the latest iterations of these properties — EA FC 25 and Madden 25 — will be ported over to the new Switch, or if EA will hold off until each game’s next release cycle. Either way, both franchises are coming to the platform, which is good news. And when I say “good news”, I’m not just talking about prospective Switch 2 players who love sports games. It is good for the industry as a whole.

A few months back, during the run-up to MLB The Show 25‘s release, I wrote a piece regarding some of the controversy surrounding MLB The Show 25 and its supposed lack of graphical updates. In that piece, I talked about how continuing to make MLB The Show — as well as other titles — available for the old Nintendo Switch in addition to the current-gen consoles was hamstringing any kind of technological progress that could be made due to its outdated specs.

Now, is the Switch 2 going to be a beast in terms of performance? Probably not. And it doesn’t have to be, as that’s never been what Nintendo has sold it as. But according to some sources, the Switch 2 could have performance that isn’t far off from what the Xbox Series S offers. In that case, the floor for performance is much higher than it has been in a long time.

We’ll keep you updated with EA FC and Madden‘s foray onto the latest Nintendo console.
