EA Skate Will Not Include Offline Mode

In a recent Q&A, Full Circle confirmed that EA Skate won’t offer an offline mode. The game is being built as a fully online experience, with a world that evolves over time through city changes, live events and other ongoing updates. A constant internet connection will be required to play, as being connected is central to how the game is meant to function.

You’ll see bigger things evolve, like changes to the city over time, as well as smaller things, like live events and other in-game activities. In order to deliver on our vision of a skateboarding world, the game will always require a live connection.

The team mentions everything’s still on track for a 2025 release, with Early Access dropping in later this year. They’re building a skateboarding world that’ll keep growing and changing with help from the players. It won’t be the full game yet, but there’ll be more than enough to mess around with.

Microtransactions are active in the current Skate playtest as the team works to fine-tune the system ahead of launch. Any real money spent during testing will be refunded as San Van Bucks (SVB) when Early Access goes live. The team understands if some players don’t want to spend right now and says feedback is just as valuable either way. Players will also be able to earn Rip Chips by completing challenges and leveling up districts, unlocking gear without needing to pay. Paid lootboxes won’t be part of the game.

Skate also isn’t aiming to be a pay-to-win experience. There are no character stats to boost with money and player progression will come down to skill with the Flick-it controls.
