EA Sports FC 25 Best Playstyles Tier List

Since their addition in FC 24, playstyles have been a huge part of the game. Towards the end of last year’s game, they became rather overpowered across the board, with the best players having four + versions in Ultimate Team. At the start of the game though, some are more powerful than others. So that you know which players to prioritize having on your team, here’s our tier list of all playstyles in EA Sports FC 25.

C-Tier

Dead Ball, Acrobatic, Quick Step

D-Tier

Chip Shot, Power Header, Trickster, Long Throw

Many of the playstyles that were overpowered at the start of FC 24 are similarly powerful in FC 25. Trivela isn’t the only reliable way to score on every single attempt like it was last year, but they’re still more powerful than they should be if you get into the right position 30 yards or so from the goal. Finesse shot is the same story. The likes of Heung Min Son and Antoine Griezmann are still top choices for the early weeks and months.

The A-tier choices are mostly playstyles that are useful in certain situations or for players in certain positions. Relentless is good for players with low stamina, negating the issue, or CMs that are used in box-to-box roles. Aerial was THE best playstyle at the end of FC 24, but it’s less overpowered in the early weeks of ’25. A lot of that is down to minimal well-rounded options, and I suspect it to improve as the game cycle progresses. It’s not quite Anticipate levels of good, but Intercept is still powerful, particularly on CDMs and CBs.

The B-tier playstyles are all worth having, but they’re not ones you should go out of your way to get on your team. Power shot and whipped pass are good if you really learn how to use them, but it’s not as simple as last year with how packed the middle of the park is and how lackluster pace out wide can be.

Dead Ball, Acrobatic, and Quick Step are all okay, but again, only really useful in specific situations. For the pace-focused playstyles, Rapid is a better option, and free kicks are so reliant on player input that the playstyle really doesn’t make that much difference.

Finally, Chip Shot, Power Header, Trickster, and Long Throw are almost useless, particularly the latter. Long Throw even has the added frustration of dragging a player from one side of a pitch to the other just for them to take a throw, leaving them out of position.

FC 25 Goalkeeper PlayStyles Tier List

As for the goalkeeper playstyles, since the + options are new to a lot of the game this year, we’re still trying to work out which are the best. From our early testing, below are our rankings.

Far Reach

A-Tier

Footwork, Cross Claimer, Rush Out, Deflector

B-Tier

Far Throw

Far Reach allows keepers to get to shots they otherwise might not, and throwing the ball isn’t ever really something that needs to be improved, so those are the best and worst options.

Over the following weeks and months, we’ll update the rankings as we get more intel on which goalkeepers are best this year.
