With eFootball 2022 Season 2 launching on June 16, I thought it best to put together a rundown of all the latest happenings here at the start of the week. I won’t cover every new thing Konami adds to the game (and the news does not just relate to Season 2), but this is what has stuck out to me as of late.
Italian Serie A Updates
According to FIFA insider FIFAWitcher and confirmed by various other outlets, Konami is set to lose the Serie A league license while also losing the exclusive Juventus FC license:

Not to be the left out, Napoli, Lazio, AS Roma, and Atalanta will remain exclusive to eFootball 2022. This means that while “Piedmont Calcio” will be renamed properly to Juventus in FIFA 23, the other four Italian clubs will still carry their generic names for the time being. Konami still holds the rights to Italy’s second division, Serie B, a partnership they’ve had since 2020. It’s unknown how long Konami holds the rights to Serie B, but the league license only grants access to league logos, cups, and badges. Konami and EA still have to negotiate with the individual clubs.
Furthermore, promotion and relegation further complicate things as it ensures that six new teams, three via promotion and three via relegation from Serie A, will require individual licenses with the Serie A clubs that drop down most likely already being secured. While fans of EA’s FIFA franchise will no doubt be excited to see the return of Juventus FC for the first time since FIFA 20, career mode takes a huge hit in the realism department for anyone who favors an Italian club.
Konami previously announced a long-term partnership with AC Monza, which is more important now that the club from Northern Italy will play in the first division for the first time.
