Though it mostly focuses on former World Champion Roman Reigns and the incredible run he’s been on for the last five years, the hides a few Easter eggs that long-time wrestling fans and WWE 2K gamers should definitely catch. Here are just a few.

Every Hidden Easter Egg In WWE 2K25’s Trailer Revealed

The Island Of Relevancy

Arguably the biggest detail that WWE 2K fans have noticed is The Island, which is supposedly the WWE 2K version of NBA 2K’s The City. Presumably, players will be able to take their MyCareer character into the Island and compete amongst each other.

How a City-like mode will function in a wrestling game remains to be seen. What we do know is that there will be a storyline attached to The Island, and exceptional performances — keeping in line with the Roman Reigns theme — will put you at the Head of the Table.

WWE Goes Underground

In the very first shot of the WWE 2K25 trailer, eagle-eyed fans might’ve picked up on something — the ring shown has no ropes! Furthermore, it is flanked by WWE Superstars. This is because this match is no ordinary match, it’s an Underground match.

Introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic where WWE was trying to find out-of-the-box ways it could continue to produce shows without fans in attendance, the Underground is a fight club-style match that is designed to resemble an MMA contest more than a pro wrestling match.

Seeing it in WWE 2K25 is exciting as having more match types are always fun.

Dives Off The Baricade

Considering the technology that developers have at their disposal these days, you’d think that programming something simple — such as diving off of a barricade — wouldn’t be such a groundbreaking feature. But for some reason, WWE games haven’t allowed you to perform high-risk maneuvers off the barricade since WWE SmackDown: Here Comes the Pain, a game that released all the way back in 2003.

As seen in the trailer, doing barricade dives will be returning in WWE 2K25. And I couldn’t be more stoked about it! It remains to be seen if this feature will translate into being able to recreate some ridiculous Royal Rumble moments — such as John Morrison using the barricade to prevent elimination — but I’ll take the feature even at its most basic.

The Bloodline Runs Deep

The reveal trailer for WWE 2K25 — with its focus on Roman Reigns and his allies/enemies — all but confirms that this year’s Showcase Mode will center around the famed Bloodline. But it seems that WWE 2K25 will be taking everything one step further by showcasing the Anoa’i Family as a whole.

For anyone unaware of wrestling lore, the Anoa’i Family is among wrestling’s most accomplished bloodlines and includes not just Reigns, but the Usos, Umaga, Yokozuna, Rikishi, Afa, Sika, and The Rock just to name a few. And given the trailer’s focus on these characters, it’s likely this year’s Showcase will center not just on Reigns’ dominance, but the Anoa’i legacy as a whole.

Believe In The Shield?

It would be impossible to talk about Roman Reigns’ career without mentioning The Shield, the faction he began his WWE career with. Consisting of Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose, the Shield is one of the most dominant and beloved stables in WWE history and served as the launching pad for all three wrestlers’ mainstream careers. And given Rollins’ donning of the Shield garb in the trailer, it seems like this history will be acknowledged in some fashion.

However, Ambrose is no longer with WWE and is instead performing as Jon Moxley on AEW television these days. And considering WWE’s history of censoring archival footage in its games to prevent giving out royalty checks, it’s unknown exactly what WWE can and can’t delve into when talking about the Shield. But no Roman Reigns story is complete without it, especially when it comes to how his historic title reign ended.
