Get Your MLB The Show Trades Judged Here

Look, if you’re not tuned into Twitter 24/7, you’re living right — don’t change a thing (at least in that regard, I don’t know what’s happening with the rest of your life, maybe you need to make some major changes elsewhere). While I’m not on Twitter all day either, I do keep my eyes on my old pal Mills and my late-night fix on Twitch Paul Sporer. They’re also heavily into MLB The Show, and the two of them are the reason for this reminder about our MLB The Show Trade Machine we have every year on OS.

The thread is not as popular now as it was a couple months ago since, ya know, lockout and the season being over, but considering the state of the trade engine in the game (it’s not good) it’s worth pointing out the thread one more time. It’s one of my favorite threads every year because I like seeing a good take, someone getting slapped down for trying to justify a putrid trade, or the magic of a forum actually pulling off its intended function of creating a good environment for discussion.

Paul and Mills are the influence here because Mills has been on one lately on Twitter as it relates to getting more support for franchise mode moving forward (obviously there is no argument here from us), and Sporer is going through a Pirates rebuild in his latest Twitch streams. They came together in a Twitter fusion of sorts for this combo:

(Side note, I’m a fan of fusion cuisine, but I feel like if Twitter were a food, the fusion would always end up as one those weird charcoal fusion foods that were a craze for a bit. In other words, the food would be bad because charcoal fusion food is bad and dumb.)

Charcoal food aside, the above trade of Juan Soto for players not of his caliber would be pointed out as a terrible trade in the thread on OS. Of course, Paul had nothing to do with this trade, but still this is a reason many believe in 30-team control or no AI trades being allowed. Regardless, if the AI can do this so can you.

With that in mind, I also know the temptation of a good swindling. However, you need to be brave enough to at least come to trade court and be judged for your vile ways if you want to take what the Nationals have left and make it your own.

A couple other aspects of the thread that are great include the fact that you can go there if you are looking for potential trades for players (a trade finder of sorts), or if you are starting a franchise with a team you don’t know a ton about, folks can tell you if trading X player makes logical sense or not.

All in all, the thread is a great resource, and while it would be ideal if the trade system in MLB The Show 21 did not stink, it would also make this thread less magical.
