What Is The Gran Turismo World Series?

The Gran Turismo World Series is the esports competition for Gran Turismo 7 run by its developers, Polyphony Digital. It allows the top-ranked players to face off head-to-head in live events where things like connection speed aren’t factors — it all comes down to how you race.

The Gran Turismo World Series is divided into the Manufacturers Cup and the Nations Cup. In the Manufacturers Cup, specific drivers represent their favorite car manufacturer. In the Nations Cup, each driver represents their respective country or territory.

All Details For Gran Turismo World Series 2025 Online Qualifiers

Dates

It should be pointed out that half of the qualifying dates are on Wednesdays. This makes it tricky for competitors with day jobs, as they will have to make plans around working mid-week. Depending on what region you are from, these qualifying times might interfere with a standard 9-5 job.

Additionally, the dates are all in quick succession. This means drivers will have to make themselves available for the full three weeks that each qualifier is running.

Polyphony Digital mentioned that these dates may change due to unforeseen circumstances. This means that drivers should check before each round.

Points Ranking

For the 2025 GT World Series, the points ranking will be determined as a collection of your points from the best five rounds. This means drivers can only miss one of the rounds to get a full score. Considering the dates above, it is tricky for competitors with full-time jobs or are in school.

So, not only do you have to race at your best every round to get the top marks, but you will also have to attend every round to ensure that your best scores aren’t damaged by one bad placement.

Entry

The entry requirements for qualifying will be based on your Driver Rating, which you can find in the “Sport” section of GT7. So, if you are not quite at an A+ rating, you will want to ensure you get there before qualifying starts to be considered for the top league.

Regions

The Nations Cup is divided into five regions:

  • Europe/Middle East/Africa
  • North America
  • Central America and South America
  • Asia
  • Oceania

The Manufacturers Cup is divided into three regions: Europe/Middle East/Africa, the Americas, and Asia-Oceania.

Further Information

Polyphony Digital also states that more information about the World Series Online Qualifiers will be released in March, before the qualifying. This information will cover the selection criteria, and the schedule for the live event competitions.
