How Does Rhythm Shooting Work in NBA 2K25?

In NBA 2K25, there are so many different skills that you can master on the court. That said, unless you use an interior focused MyPlayer build in MyCareer, many of us want to get better at shooting. What’s different about NBA 2K25 compared to other 2Ks is the addition of a brand new shooting mechanic called Rhythm Shooting. This is a new option if you’re looking to try something different outside of pressing the usual shot button.

How this works is that you hold the right analog stick down as your player begins to jump in the air and then you pull the analog stick up as he’s releasing the ball on the jump shot. Your tempo will be graded with the usual Early-Late-Excellent method, and obviously the closer to Excellent means your shot will splash right through the net.

Having said that, we know that this mechanic is heavily animation-based so when you give Rhythm Shooting a try, make sure to get comfortable with the player’s jump shot that you’re using. And if you’re in MyCareer, make sure to have a jumper that you can get cozy with and do in your sleep.

The shooting in NBA 2K25 has been a bit polarizing with some enjoying it and others not liking it. The Rhythm Shooting mechanic, when timed properly, can help you make more shots if you’re struggling. You just have to get comfortable with moving the analog stick down then up.

Of course, feel free to get used to using your usual method for shooting. This is just another option to give a try. You can even alternate if you so wish. Head to your MyCourt and continue to work on your shot with whichever method(s) you choose.
