One of the most celebrated parts about the MyPlayer feature in NBA 2K has been the ability to scan your own face onto the player you’re creating. This allows you to truly become immersed in the game, as it feels like you’re controlling yourself. When you see your name and face attached to your MyPlayer, it simply makes you want to play better.
Fortunately, the face scan ability has returned in NBA 2K25, and players can take full advantage of it to create their exact likeness in the game. However, face scans have always been a little bit complicated to figure out, as the feature doesn’t take place in the game’s application.
For a full breakdown of how to face scan your MyPlayer in NBA 2K25, check out the guide below.
Creating A Face Scan For MyPlayer In NBA 2K25

As we previously mentioned, you can’t face scan directly from the 2K25 application, regardless of what system you’re playing on. The face scan can only be done using the MyNBA 2K Companion App, which can be downloaded via the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store on a mobile device.
Once the app is installed, log in using the same 2K account you’re currently playing on. You then need to ensure that your app is running on 2K25, as it can use several of the past games if you haven’t updated the app. After you have ensured your app is on 2K25, select that game, and then you’ll see the “Scan Your Face” option right in the middle of the screen. You’ll then have to agree to the terms and conditions of using the feature.
Once you’re through all of the red tape, you’ll be on the face screen, where you can follow instructions on what to do and how to scan your face. Basically, though, you need to position your mobile device in front of your face and move it from side to side when the app says to do so. This ensures that the scan gets all of your facial features to accurately create your MyPlayer’s face. You need to position your device at eye level and not too close or too far away.
Usually, the face scan process takes a couple of minutes if nothing goes wrong. When doing the scan, try and have a blank background behind you and use good lighting so that your facial features show up on camera. If you’re in a dark space, your face scan might not turn out accurately, as many players have discovered in the past.
After the face scan process is complete, you’ll receive some prompts to export the face scan to your MyPlayer. Once you’ve agreed to do so, you can head back into the 2K25 application and see if your face scan has been uploaded. You can check if it has by going into MyCareer, loading into the City with the MyPlayer you’ve created, and then going to the “Appearance” tab in the MyPlayer menu.
From here, you can edit your player’s appearance and select the “Scan Your Face” option at the bottom of the screen. This imports your face scan from the companion app if it’s been uploaded properly and updates your MyPlayer’s face with the scan. If all went well, your MyPlayer should be the spitting image of you.
If you think the scan needs some work, you can head back into the companion app and redo the scan. Then, try to reupload the scan and see if it looks any better once you choose to edit your MyPlayer.
