Backstage Passes are some of the rarest items you can acquire in Forza Horizon 5. They are used to unlock vehicles from the Horizon Backstage, which features unique cars that you might not be able to purchase anywhere else in the game. As such, entering the Backstage is a highly sought-after activity.
The problem with the Horizon Backstage is you need a single Backstage Pass to enter. With how rare and seemingly confusing it is to acquire Backstage Passes, this presents a bit of a pickle for drivers. Fortunately, there are a few different ways to get Backstage Passes in Forza Horizon 5. Moreover, there are additional ways to unlock some of the unique cars from the Horizon Backstage.
We’ll go over the Backstage Passes and the Horizon Backstage altogether in the guide below.
Getting Backstage Passes In Forza Horizon 5

There are a couple of different ways of adding Backstage Passes to your account, but the process can be quite slow. I’ve been playing Forza Horizon 5 for years and I’ve barely managed to amass a decent amount of them. You need to be patient and diligent, but if you pay enough attention to the game and know the methods to get Backstage Passes, you can accumulate a solid amount.
You can see the two main methods of getting Backstage Passes below.
Buy Backstage Passes From Forzathon Shop
The easiest, but most expensive, way of getting Backstage Passes is by simply purchasing them from the Forzathon Shop. Yes, microtransactions still haven’t gone anywhere in Forza Horizon 5 and Backstage Passes can be purchased individually for 1,000 Forzathon Points.
However, you can only buy one Backstage Pass per week. This is to stop you from loading up on passes and purchasing all the available vehicles in the Horizon Backstage all at once. So you can spend 1,000 points to get one pass, enter the Horizon Backstage, unlock a new car, and go on about your business. Of course, this can get pricey, so many players opt to get Backstage Passes the other way.
Complete Festival Playlist Events

The second way to earn Backstage Passes is to complete Festival Playlist events in Forza Horizon 5. These are rotated weekly and you don’t even have to complete all of the events in the Festival Playlist. All you have to do is complete 50% of the events and you’ll earn a single Backstage Pass. 50% of the events equates to roughly 40 points in the Festival Playlist.
As you can only get one Backstage Pass per week in Forza Horizon 5 with this method, completing events in the Festival Playlist will only net you a decent chunk of passes over time. You can boost that number by purchasing Backstage Passes from the shop as well, but you shouldn’t need to if you’re completing a healthy number of events every week.
You can access the Festival Playlist in Forza Horizon 5 by following these steps:
- Go through the Tutorials for the season and wait until you can access the open world
- Hit “Esc” or “Options” to open the menu and then go to the “Home” tab located at the top of the screen
- In this tab, enter the section called “Festival Playlist” on the left-hand side of the screen
- From here, you can see all of the available events, what percentage you’re at, and even the Forzathon Shop if you want to purchase a Backstage Pass from there as well
How To Enter The Horizon Backstage In Forza Horizon 5

Now that you know the ways to get Backstage Passes, how can you spend them in Forza Horizon 5? As previously mentioned, the Horizon Backstage is where you’ll use the passes. In the Horizon Backstage, you can use your passes to unlock special cars that are rotated in and out of the rotation. When the Horizon Backstage returned in October of 2024, there were six unique vehicles on offer, including a 2016 Pagani Huayra BC and a 2021 BMW M4 Competition Coupe.
However, the Horizon Backstage has new cars all the time, so you don’t have to spend your Backstage Passes on a car just because it’s available. If there’s nothing there to your liking, simply wait a week or two and the list of unlockable cars should be refreshed.
There are over 100 exclusive cars that have become available in the Horizon Backstage and more are still being added with updates, so there’s no need for “FOMO” just because you miss a week’s selection. If you have enough Backstage Passes, you can unlock however many cars you want in the Horizon Backstage.
And that’s everything we have on earning Backstage Passes and using them in the Horizon Backstage in Forza Horizon 5. The process is certainly a great way to earn some exclusive cars, but it’s also a good method to get you involved with some rotating content in the game.
