One of the many fresh things in EA Sports College Football 25 is the field goal kick meter. Normally in football games, kicking is fairly straightforward and to the point. You set your accuracy and then set your power. This is still the case with College Football 25, but there are a couple of noticeable differences.
One, the default setting has you holding down the kick button for both your accuracy and power. Yup, it’s all done with one button press. And sure, that sounds pretty simple, but it can be pretty easy to hold the button down too long or not long enough by accident.
There’s also an aspect where, if you put too much power on your kick, it will either fall short of the goalpost or go wide right or wide left. With these things in mind, how do you kick better and make more field goals in CFB 25?
Well, it’s important to note what we just mentioned about putting too much power on your kicks. There’s a little red spot on the power meter during the kick. Avoid that, and you should be in great shape. Just make sure you have enough mustard on the kick to make the field goal.
Another important thing to keep in mind is that some kickers’ accuracy cursors will go crazy fast if you’re kicking from a long distance. So don’t expect to attempt many 60-yard field goals. Somewhere in the 50s feels like the max (unless things change).
If you don’t like the Tap and Hold system that is set as the default, in the settings you can switch to the classic Tap and Tap system where you tap for accuracy and then tap for your power. So there are two options that everyone can enjoy.
Kicking field goals feels very satisfying in College Football 25 so getting these control schemes down is very important. Now get out there and start drilling those field goals. Oh, and EA? Be sure to include Kicker as an option in Road to Glory next time. Pretty please?
