Now that a new year has begun, new players have been added to the EA Sports FC 25 database. Every year, EA Sports adds the players missing from the game so that users can add them to their teams. The players in the first batch added are James Rodriguez, David de Gea, and Juan Cuadrado.
Since the player database is locked in before the full new game releases, there will inevitably be players who are free agents and are yet to find a club who aren’t able to be given Ultimate Team cards. However, once those players find clubs they can be added, after a short delay.
James Rodriguez, David de Gea, and Juan Cuadrado have all joined new clubs in the past few months, so can now be added to the game. As of January 2, 2025, you can get the three players in Ultimate Team. You can buy them from the transfer market or get them in packs. Below are the full details of the three players, and you can see their full stats on FUTbin.
Player Name | Position | Club | Nation | Overall Rating |
---|---|---|---|---|
James Rodriguez | CAM | Rayo Vallecano | Colombia | 81 |
David De Gea | GK | Fiorentina | Spain | 84 |
Juan Cuadrado | RM | Bergamo Calcio (Atalanta in real life) | Colombia | 79 |
Interestingly, the base gold versions aren’t the only versions of some of the players in the game. The day after they were added to the database, the NumeroFUT promo began in Ultimate Team. The promo is one we’ve never seen in the history of FC or FIFA games.
As part of that event, James Rodriguez has had an upgraded NumeroFUT card added to the game, on top of de Gea’s Winter Wildcard item from the prior week. They are 90 and 88 rated overall respectively, each with additional positions, playstyles, and roles. Cuadrado doesn’t have a special card yet, but there’s every chance EA Sports adds one in the near future now that he’s a part of the game.
As and when more new players are added to EA Sports FC 25, we’ll be sure to let you know. Some of them will focus on other free agents around the world, while others will be player transfers that happen throughout the January transfer window. It’s just a shame that EA Sports no longer changes the ratings of existing players anymore like they did with Winter Refresh events back in the early days of FIFA and Ultimate Team. Those days were perfect for taking advantage of market fluctuation and boosting the quality of your teams.
