Michael Jordan on the Blazers is one of the bigger what-if storylines of all-time. So before The Last Dance tonight, you might want to check out one of the cooler alternate history stories I’ve seen. It’s a documentary of sorts by Evander Major using NBA 2K assets with audio clips from real life to re-create MJ’s career as if he had been drafted by the Blazers.
It’s over 40 minutes long, and the best parts of it to me are the montages and childhood Jordan clips. There’s certainly some modding being done here as well so it’s not like this is all just out-of-the-box NBA 2K20 stuff, there was quite a bit of heavy lifting here. It still hits a lot of the same story beats from MJ’s real career (both on the court and off it), but there’s some fun surprises here in terms of what other elements are changed as a knock-on effect of MJ no longer being in Chicago.
This is something that clearly took a lot of time, and it’s impressive how much of MJ’s story still comes across very well even in this makeshift form within a video game.
