MLB The Show 20: 7th Inning Program Guide and Overview

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

We move now from the 6th Inning Program with Musial, Maddux and Rollins to the 7th Inning Program guide. As usual, the best player rewards will be at 300 stars, and this reward structure overall is the most generous yet (as to be expected).

Recommended Videos

The 300 star boss players are Signature Series Walter Johnson, Prime Frank Thomas and MVP Bryce Harper. This feels a little like a flawed trio of players. All three guys last month had different clear positives and negatives, but this trio is more where you see the smallest amount of downside. Obviously, all three are still good 99 overall players, but there’s no Larry Walker and no one even like Musial who is the clear all-bat obvious pick if you don’t want the more well-rounded hitter or top-end pitcher.

With Signature Series Walter Johnson, we have plenty of 99 overall pitchers now, and those players don’t have the slowest windup around like Johnson. He also only has four pitches, but at least one is a sinker. Prime Frank Thomas may end up as the pick for many because he was a destroyer of worlds last year. However, he’s terrible at 1B defense and while he’s maxed out against left-handed pitching, he’s only very good against right-handed pitching. Finally, MVP Bryce Harper has the popular swing, but his attributes don’t match up to Larry Walker’s. This makes sense on some level since Larry Walker is a new player and you want to hype him up, but it brings down this inning program a bit by comparison.

Still, let’s get through this 7th Inning Program guide and chat about the missions and rewards.

Showdown

The entry fee here is 500 stubs. The Final Showdown should usually be against Walter Johnson so, uh, make sure to get someone on base or otherwise you’ll be there all day. The final reward includes a Ballin Is A Habit pack (x3).

Winning the Showdown will net you +70 program stars. Along the way, the same general reward structure is in place but with slight bonuses now. So now you basically break even by beating two challenges rather than even having to beat the first mini boss.

You can also earn as many as five The Show packs and a gold player pack along the way to the Final Showdown.

Conquest

The Shark Map is back. There are seven strongholds to conquer, and you need to conquer the Giants on the first turn and the Athletics by the end of the third turn. You also need to steal 3M fans along the way. Beyond those requirements, just conquer the map. You will also get a Ballin’ bundle when you complete the map.

JProGaming27 has also posted all the secrets from this Conquest map, as per usual:

The standouts include two Topps Now players, a Prospect Set 2 pack (x2), a Ducks On The Pond pack, HR Derby set 1 pack, HR Derby Set 2 pack and 6 Headliners packs. In other words, this map is stacked. You will earn 30 stars for completing this map.
