MLB The Show 23 Storylines: The Negro Leagues - Season 1 Feature Premiere

The first MLB The Show 23 Feature Premiere was revealed earlier today, offering a more in-depth look at Storylines: The Negro Leagues – Season 1. The video features our guy Ramone Russell and the president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, Bob Kendrick, as they discuss the creation process of this exciting new mode. They delve into the steps taken to bring the mode to life and provide a behind-the-scenes look at the effort that went into making it a reality.

They are also joined by Jarred Schiff, senior narrative designer, as he shares some details on the six Negro League stadiums, additional information and screenshots of the featured players and much more. For those of you that might have missed out on the announcement, here are the featured players for Season 1.

  • Leroy “Satchel” Paige
  • Jackie Robinson
  • Andrew “Rube” Foster
  • Hilton Smith
  • Hank Thompson
  • John Donaldson
  • Martin Dihigo
  • John Jordan “Buck” O’Neil

In the new mode players will embark on an engaging narrative journey, centered around a chosen player, through short informational videos followed by gameplay that recreates significant moments in the player’s career. With every new release of MLB The Show, a new season will be introduced, featuring a new group of Negro League Legends and their stories to pay homage to these mostly underappreciated baseball legends. Season 2 is set to arrive next year in MLB The Show 24.

Below is the archived stream and we also captured as many screenshots as we possibly could. The entire stream is worth the watch and it includes some gameplay at the very end. More details are still to come later this month with additional details on the mode and much more.

MLB The Show 23 will release on March 28 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. It’s also coming to Xbox Game Pass for the third consecutive year on Day One. For those of you getting either of the Collector’s Editions, you will get four days of early access starting on March 24.
