MLB The Show 24: How To Get Traded, Explained

What to do if you want out.

Let’s face it, sometimes you get drafted to the absolute team of your nightmares in MLB The Show 24. You’re playing Road to the Show, having a great time in the Combine, and then the team you’ve hated all your life comes along to draft you. That’s never a great situation, especially if you’re drafted to the opposite team in a rivalry. As a Red Sox fan, I would simply delete my save if the Yankees drafted me in Road to the Show.

However, if you’re willing to stick it out for a while with the team you’re not a huge fan of, there are ways to get traded from that team in MLB The Show 24. Unfortunately, the method to get traded can take a while and relies on your in-game performance in Road to the Show. Below, I’ll show you the best ways to get traded and how fast it can happen so you can get on a plane and never look back at the team you don’t like.

Ways To Get Traded In MLB The Show 24

As I just alluded to, the best way to get traded to another team in Road to the Show is by performing better, winning games, and making sure other teams take notice of you. A trade almost always happens after you reach the big leagues, so it’s doubtful you’d get traded while you’re still in the Minors. Fortunately, we have a more in-depth guide on how to get called up in Road to the Show, so check that out if you’re still struggling to crack the big league roster.

When you make it to your Major League team’s roster, you have to ensure you’re making as few errors as possible, hitting the ball well, or pitching while maintaining a high ERA and WHIP. Increase your player’s stats as much as you can throughout the course of a season and try to win all the games that are within your control.

As long as you keep performing well and showcasing your talents, other teams in MLB will take notice in Road to the Show. When another team has some interest in acquiring your services, you’ll get a call from an agent who represents them. The agent will offer you a trade and explain the parameters of the trade, i.e. what position you’ll play, how much playing time you’ll get, etc.

Unfortunately, there’s no timetable for when an agent could come calling asking if you’d like to join another team. However, speaking from my experience, I would often get a trade request once every year or every other year as long as I was playing well.

When a team does successfully trade for you, you’re guaranteed to stick with them for the duration of the current season. So whenever you accept a trade, just know you’re there at least until the start of the next season.

How To Speed Up Trades In MLB The Show 24

If you’re looking to simply get traded as quickly as possible, then there is a way to cheese the system in MLB The Show 24. All you need to do is increase the “Trade Frequency” slider in Road to the Show, which makes agents call far more often throughout a season. You’ll basically be the star of the league and get a trade call just about every week.

To increase the Trade Frequency slider, follow these steps:

  • Go into MLB The Show 24 and enter Road to the Show
  • From the main menu in RTTS, click on the Settings menu
  • In Settings, scroll down until you see the “Trade Frequency” slider
  • Slide this as far as possible to the right of the slider
  • This will ensure you receive the maximum amount of trade offers from other teams

If you just want to get traded a single time or to one set team, then you’ll want to make sure you turn the Trade Frequency slider back down to its normal value after getting on the team you want. The trade offers really can get annoying after a while, especially if you’re content with your current situation.

Once you find the team you want to spend your career with, you can even turn the slider all the way to the left to ensure you receive virtually no trade offers ever again.

Are There Other Ways To Get Traded In MLB The Show 24?

Anyone who has played previous MLB The Show games might know there used to be an option in Road to the Show that allowed you to request a trade yourself. This was a super helpful mechanic, as it removed the waiting period that you go through before an agent comes calling about a trade.

Unfortunately, MLB The Show 24 removed this feature, so you’re unable to request a trade and force your way onto another team. This means you’re really left with two options: wait for an agent to call or increase the Trade Frequency slider.

Personally, I’ve always gone with the latter method if I ended up on a team I didn’t want to play for long term. It’s an easy way to field plenty of trade offers and eventually, my preferred team comes calling and I accept the trade to them. However, if you want to play things more traditionally, then wait for an agent’s call on the normal schedule.

That’s all we have on how to get traded in MLB The Show 24. It’s an easy process once you know what you’re doing, but it can take a while if you’re not willing to game the system.
