Motorsports Games revealed their IndyCar game, initially planned for release sometime this year, will be delayed until 2024. The development team aims to utilize the additional time to enhance the game’s quality and surpass the expectations of the gaming community.
Those expectations are not very high coming off a disappointing NASCAR 21: Ignition and constantly delaying the 2022 NASCAR regular season DLC for NASCAR Heat 5. By the way, the NH5 servers have been down since March 7.
UPDATE: (3-28) The NASCAR Heat 5 servers are finally online.
The numbers aren’t looking great for Motorsports Games either…
Revenue for the fourth quarter of 2022 was $3.8 million compared to $8.2 million for the same period in the prior year, a reduction of $4.4 million, or 54%. Gross profit was $2.3 million compared to $3.3 million for the same period in the prior year, a decrease of $1 million, while gross profit margin improved to 60.6% from 40.5%.
Net loss for the fourth quarter of 2022 was $4.8 million, or $4.17 per share, compared to a net loss of $7 million, or $6.16 per share, for the same period in the prior year, an improvement of $2.2 million, or $1.99 per share.
We’ll be keeping an eye on this one but most fans aren’t very optimistic.
