NBA 2K League - Week 2 Recap

CIVIL WAR: Similar to Captain America and Iron Man in “Captain America: Civil War,” Week 2 featured former teammates Artreyo “Dimez” Boyd (Mavs Gaming) and Ryan “Dayfri” Conger (Wizards District Gaming) engaged in an epic on-court battle that captivated the NBA 2K League audience. In the end, Dallas improved to 3-0 in the regular season with a 61-53 victory over Washington. Mavs Gaming’s Moustapha “Mo” Saab (left) led all scorers with 22 points in the contest. PROTECTING ASGARD: After being traded from Pistons GT in the offseason for a first-round pick, 2018 MVP finalist Ramo “Ramo” Radoncic scored 13 points and six rebounds for Pacers Gaming in the 60-53 victory over Detroit. Pacers Gaming has a record of 3-0 in the regular season. Click here to hear Radoncic discussed the victory. Fun fact: Pacers Gaming center Brent “Lord Beezus” Aasgaard (left) father’s name is Thor. 

NEW AVENGERS ASSEMBLE: With her teammate Xavier “Type” Vescovi undergoing injury evaluation, Warriors Gaming Squad’s Chiquita Evans (left) made her NBA 2K League debut in Week 2, becoming the first-ever woman to play in the NBA 2K League. New Zealand-native Jack “Jaacko” Stevenson made his debut for Pistons GT, tallying 21 points and five assists in a 76-68 victory over Bucks Gaming. Stevenson qualified for the NBA 2K League Draft following his standout performance at the NBA 2K League APAC Invitational in Hong Kong in February. 

WEEK 2’S MIGHTIEST HEROES 

Dayne ”OneWildWalnut” Downey of Blazer5 Gaming was named Intel Player of the Week for Week 2. The 2018 NBA 2K League MVP and DPOY recorded 14 points and 14 rebounds in a 64-53 victory over Warriors Gaming Squad and also tallied 26 points and 12 rebounds in a victory over Lakers Gaming. 

Bucks Gaming’s friendly neighborhood Tyler “Plondo” Lay registered a double-double with 17 points and 19 rebounds in an 80-57 victory over Heat Check Gaming. Fun fact: Lay’s favorite superhero is Spider-Man. 

Second-year player Basil “24K Dropoff” Rose posted 21 points behind perfect shooting from the field and five three-pointers in a 62-56 victory over Wizards District Gaming.
