I said I would be back with NBA 2K20 MyTeam Flash Pack 2 reviews, so let’s chat about this latest batch of insanely good cards. In essence, these players are all great in their own way, but there are certainly tiers to them. Let’s get to it.
Larry Bird – Flash Pack 2 Review
HOF Badges:Â Consistent Finisher, Contact Finisher, Catch & Shoot, Clutch Shooter, Corner Specialist, Deadeye, Difficult Shots, Flexible Release, Green Machine, Pick & Popper, Quick Draw, Range Extender, Slippery Off-Ball, Tireless Shooter, Clamps, Off-Ball Pest, Tireless Defender, Trapper
Gold Badges (include): Giant Slayer, Deep Fades, Dimer, Flashy Passer, Floor General, Needle Threader, Quick First Step, Space Creator, Unpluckable, Interceptor, Intimidator, Lightning Reflexes, Pick Dodger, Defensive Leader, Pick Pocket
Attributes:Â 97 3-point shooting, 85 speed, 94 driving layup, 88 post moves, 85 speed with ball, 86 ball handling, 93 perimeter defense, 95 lateral quickness, 92 steal, 85 defensive rebound.
Analysis: Bird has a truly terrible diamond card that you could get early on with a 12-0 in MyTeam Unlimited. This pink diamond card seems to be the apology for that card. He goes from having four mostly useless HOF badges on that diamond card to now having 19 HOF badges, with most of them in the shooting department. He also gets key defensive badges like Clamps to help him work on both ends of the court.
At 6-foot-9, Bird’s going to work at both PF and SF, and it’s relatively easy to state this is now the best PF or at least PF/SF hybrid card in the game (depending on how you feel about Giannis). He has a very easy release, a nice leaner, and he’s athletic and fast enough to be fantastic on both ends of the court.
J.R. Smith – Flash Pack 2 Review
HOF Badges:Â Consistent Finisher, Contact Finisher, Fastbreak Finisher, Showtime, Catch & Shoot, Deadeye, Difficult Shots, Flexible Release, Green Machine, Quick Draw, Range Extender, Slippery Off-Ball, Tireless Shooter, Volume Shooter, Quick First Step, Space Creator, Clamps
Gold Badges (include):Â Trapper, Pick Pocket, Pick Dodger, Lightning Reflexes, Interceptor, Intimidator, Dimer, Tight Handles, Ankle Breaker, Corner Specialist, Floor General, Acrobat
Attributes: 98 3-point shooting, 94 speed, 95 driving layup, 98 driving dunk, 94 speed with ball, 96 ball handling, 90 perimeter defense, 92 lateral quickness, 90 steal
Analysis:Â Yes, much like Ben Simmons, this card is indeed glitched. J.R. gets point guard eligibility and all of the best HOF badges in the game. He is busted, and even though he doesn’t provide the height mismatch Simmons does, I like him now as the best PG in the game. His extra shooting is just that important, and the badges he has means he has no weaknesses on either end of the court. He’s still a 6-foot-6 PG as well, so it’s not like you’re giving up that much in the height department.
On top of that, he has a super easy release, and so it’s just greens for days on top of having all the explosiveness and speed you could want. When you can do all that while having HOF Clamps, Range Extender, Quick Draw and Quick First Step there’s not much more you need. He is an end-game card being released in January. Wild times are ahead in MyTeam if this is the rate we’re getting to these sorts of cards.
Josh Smith – Flash Pack 2 Review
HOF Badges:Â Contact Finisher, Cross-Key Scorer, Fastbreak Finisher, Lob City Finisher, Relentless Finisher, Showtime, Intimidator, Pogo Stick, Tireless Defender, Trapper
Gold Badges (include): Defensive Leader, Rim Protector, Post Move Lockdown, Pick Pocket, Pick Dodger, Interceptor, Off-Ball Pest, Heart Crusher, Clamps, Quick First Step, Downhil, Quick Draw, Green Machine, Deep Fades, Deep Hooks, Dropstepper, Pick & Roller
Attributes: 84 3-point shooting, 91 speed, 95 driving layup, 89 standing dunk, 97 driving dunk, 84 post moves, 82 post fade, 86 ball handling, 78 speed with ball, 82 interior defense, 90 perimeter defense, 89 lateral quickness, 95 steal, 95 block, 88 defensive rebounding
Analysis:Â Continuing on with the trend of trying to one-up all the cards from the first Flash Pack, this JSmoov card is clearly supposed to be the answer to Lamar Odom. On top of that, he’s meant to be a Giannis stopper it seems. I do like the Odom card a bit more still because I just like shooting with him more, but this card is certainly awesome. However, if you can deal with a slight offensive downgrade while getting someone who is more well rounded, then Josh Smith is probably the pick over Odom.
He doesn’t have anything relating to Range Extender and “only” has gold Clamps, but otherwise this is a fantastic defensive card with oodles of offensive upside. He will dunk on everyone, his ball handling is good enough, he’s very fast without the ball, and he’s going to swat and steal just about everything.
