Diamond Ja Morant Review

HOF Badges: Acrobat, Consistent Finisher, Contact Finisher, Fastbreak Finisher, Giant Slayer, Showtime, Slithery Finisher, Tireless Shooter, Volume Shooter, Dimer, Quick First Step, Space Creator, Stop and Go

Gold Badges (include): Clamps, Unpluckable, Ankle Breaker, Floor General, Tight Handles, Deadeye, Range Extender, Quick Draw

Attributes: 86 3-point shooting, 92 driving layup, 94 driving dunk, 89 draw foul, 92 ball handling, 94 speed with ball, 89 lateral quickness, 82 perimeter defense, 82 defensive rebounding

Analysis: This is a very nice upgrade from Morant’s already very good Moments Week 4 ruby card that was still seeing some play on teams trying to keep their overall ratings down. His skinniness is not a major issue as he just goes to the rim hard in 2K. He can dunk on people and also has a very smooth shot off the bounce. With gold Clamps, he’s not spectacular on defense or anything, but you’re using this card because he’s an elite slasher.

He is without question in the conversation for the best diamond point guard in the game because Morant’s offense is just that good. He could be a little taller, and he could be a little better on defense, but you’re getting an easy-to-use player here who can stand up to most of the heavy hitters and at least not embarrass himself. Morant’s going to get even better cards than this diamond, but if you really want to upgrade from his ruby, this is a perfectly valid card to go to.

Diamond Jamal Murray Review

HOF Badges: Difficult Shots, Catch and Shoot, Green Machine, Range Extender, Slippery Off-Ball, Flexible Release, Quick First Step

Gold Badges (include): Clamps, Ankle Breaker, Dimer, Floor General, Tight Handles, Unpluckable, Corner Specialist, Deadeye, Hot Zone Hunter, Quick Draw, Relentless Finisher, Contact Finisher, Giant Slayer

Attributes: 95 3-point shooting, 95 driving layup, 85 driving dunk, 90 ball handling, 92 speed with the ball, 90 lateral quickness, 82 perimeter defense

Analysis: Morant’s competition for best diamond point guard comes right from Jamal Murray. Like Morant, Murray has gotten a lot of play from his Ruby Moments card, and this is another very good upgrade to that version. Murray can dunk on a surprising number of people, and his shooting motion is loved even more than Morant’s by many. I’m partial to Morant (and Morant overall) but it’s easy to argue for this card.

He has even better badges than Morant because Murray gets HOF Range Extender with gold Hot Zone Hunter, but he’s not quite the slasher Morant is to me. They’re both about the same size and effectiveness on defense, so it’s really just down to personal preference. If you like shooting a little more than go with Murray. If you like to dunk and slash a bit more, go with Morant. Regardless, both guys are in the top tier of diamond point guards and you can’t go wrong with either.
