NBA 2K22 Retro Rosters: MJWizards' Classic Teams Project on PS5

I have featured the work of MJWizards before, and it’s because MJ does some of the most thorough work around on consoles. The custom content on PC is legendary (and I always recommend people head there if they want that sort of “true” experience), but console players can get some quality stuff as well. On the PS5, one of the best (and deepest) NBA 2K22 classic teams rosters comes from MJ. This NBA 2K22 retro rosters set is driven by the initial content put in the game by the 2K developers.

In short, the theme of this retro roster set is the classic teams. As of now, over 40 teams are in this set, and by MJ’s own admission, the project is about 70% complete overall. The newest team is the 2002-03 Phoenix Suns. There are 67 classic teams in total that made it into NBA 2K22, so MJ is making steady progress here.

Bottom Line

You can support MJWizards three ways:

MJ is very committed to these projects, and rarely will he ever stop before reaching his goal of finishing one. His consistency and longevity in the community is a reason why I like to showcase the work, and it’s also why so many people gravitate to what is put out by him.

The amount he’s able to pull out of the tools without needing “modding” capabilities is impressive, and you can tell he’s just a big fan of the sport. The nice part about this set is that MJ has a base to work with at times, so this one is coming along relatively quickly as well.

These rosters are fun to use in a variety of settings. For example, there are technically 67 classic teams (seven of them are LA Lakers teams), but since many of them are “duplicates” in some regards, you can chop down the list for MyNBA purposes. The only real downside of course is that these edits are only available on the PS5 due to how the 2K Share system works right now. Regardless, if you want to show some love for his work, you can hit the links above or head to the thread and show some appreciation.
