When firing up NBA 2K24 or any 2K for that matter, one of the most popular things to do is to begin creating your MyPlayer to start your basketball journey in the NBA and in Park games.
But it always takes time to build our MyPlayer because we have to take things like our position and size into account when choosing which attributes to emphasize. It’s especially true to take your time since it cost VC to level up your MyPlayer and nobody wants to waste VC on a character that just doesn’t feel right.
Although 2K offers several attributes to level up, there are certain ones that don’t matter as much as you think and that includes Speed With Ball. Now, if you’re a guard, then it definitely has value, but if you play as a forward or center then it’s probably better to put more focus on something like Pass Accuracy, which does wonders if you’re a big (especially during fastbreak opportunities). Pass Accuracy will not only make your passes straight, but turn your passes into darts as you’ll pass much quicker and get access to better passing animations.
For many bigs, (6-foot-10 and up let’s say), your Speed With Ball will likely go up to 65 or so, which doesn’t make a drastic difference. If you’re a guard who wants to focus on ball handling, then Speed With Ball will matter a lot more as this controls your dribbling speed and how fast you run with the ball.
Now, if you’re a smaller big (6’7-6’9) and want to make dribbling a big part of your game, then once again,, Speed With Ball might matter. Also, if you have a small, slashing power forward for example, then Speed With Ball will matter more if you want to do a better job of blowing by defenders to get to the rim.
But if you aren’t much of a dribbler, then you don’t really have to worry about that attribute and just focus more on Pass Accuracy. If you simply don’t want to stumble while dribbling, then 60 Ball Handle is where you’ll see the stumbling stop.
So, overall, it just depends on your goals for your MyPlayer and your size. If you’re a guard, Speed With Ball will have much more value than a player who’s 6-foot-10 or taller. Just take these mental notes and make sure to test your builds before diving into MyCareer/Park.
