We’re still waiting for the “complete” update to NBA 2K24 that gives us the courts, jerseys, and all the other retina-burning elements of the In-Season Tournament, but in case you were unaware, 2K did add the tourney to MyNBA in recent weeks.
Because the tourney really only became a thing right before 2K came out, it’s not surprising it was not there at launch, but it is slightly surprising it was added at all. You do have to reset your MyNBA in order to get the option to set it to on or off in your options when starting your new franchise. This stinks if you’re already deep into a franchise, but it’s not shocking this is how it works.
If you do pick to have the In-Season Tournament on, you will see the NBA Cup icon next to games on your schedule that are tourney games. If you’re unaware of how the tourney works, there are five teams per group, the top team in each group advances (and then one wild card from each conference as well). These are regular season games, and only the teams who make the finals of the tourney play an extra game (an 83rd regular season game in effect — but it does not count towards your regular season record).
Again, there are no courts or jerseys yet for this add-on, but the commentary will talk about In-Season Tournament games and the ramifications of winning or losing certain games. You will not see an option to turn this tournament on or off if you check the “customize league” option. In other words, if you expand the league, or change the divisions, or relocate teams, etc. then the tourney will vanish. We do believe this basically means the tournament is hard-coded to the current divisions/conferences.
