NBA 2K24 MAMBA MOMENTS

NBA 2K24 Showcases Mamba Moments

In a recent deep dive session with developers, the team at 2K outlined details and showcased a trailer for the new Mamba Moments mode that will be part of NBA 2K24 when the game is officially released on September 8. Following in the footsteps of the Jordan Challenges that were featured in NBA 2K23, these moments will put you in the shoes of Kobe Bryant’s Lakers in key games from throughout the superstar’s 20-year NBA career.

Here are those 7 games that will be included in NBA 2K24‘s Mamba Moments:

  • 2001 Western Conference Semifinals, Game 4
  • Kobe Sets NBA Three-Point Record
  • The Mentee Faces His Mentor
  • Kobe Erupts For 62 Points In Three Quarters
  • Three-Point Barrage Leads To 65-Point Game
  • 2008 Western Conference Finals, Game 5
  • 2010 NBA Finals, Game 7

The moments attempt to draw in almost equal measure from three distinct periods of Kobe’s career. They start in the years when he and Shaquille O’Neal formed a dominant one-two punch, then extend into the post-Shaq years when it was essentially Kobe versus the world, and finally finish up in the era when Pau Gasol became Kobe’s go-to sidekick.

The mode is slated to include historical details that will have broadcast graphics and announcers alluding to Kobe and and the team’s recent performances leading up to the game in question. You’ll also see animations that strive to re-create some of Kobe’s celebrations that became part of a moment’s lore, including motions like his mimicking of an airplane and blowing on his fingers after making a shot. According to developers, a lot of time has apparently been spent on even trying to accurately capture the iconic look of Kobe’s unmistakable scowl on the court.
