Over the course of a MyCareer playthrough in NBA 2K25, you’ll slowly but surely accumulate a large number of MyPoints. You earn these after most completed games and when you complete quests and other random objectives. However, if you’re new to MyCareer, then you might not know exactly how MyPoints work or how to spend them.
After all, if it’s a currency you can use to improve your player, you want to dump the MyPoints into your player’s various stats and attributes as quickly as possible. While MyPoints are used to improve your player in MyCareer, they aren’t technically a currency you can spend. They work far differently than VC or any other currency in NBA 2K25, but you still need to know how they work and what to do with them. You can find everything you need about MyPoints in the guide below.
What To Do With MyPoints In NBA 2K25

You can view all of the current MyPoints you have earned by going to the main menu in MyCareer and then tabbing over to the progression section. Here, you can view your player’s OVR rating, stats, and attributes that you’ve unlocked.
When you view your MyPoints, you’ll see they’re inside of a circular meter, and depending on how many points you have, that meter will be filled up to a certain degree. The MyPoints you have currently earned and all of the future points you earn are used to fill up this meter constantly. When the meter is full, it resets, and you need to start earning more MyPoints to fill it up again.
The whole point of gaining MyPoints and filling up the meter is that it increases the maximum OVR rating your player can currently attain. Basically, MyPoints are spent automatically to allow your player to reach a higher OVR rating. The more MyPoints you earn and fill up the meter, the higher OVR your player can be, assuming you continue to raise their stats and unlock attributes for them.
If you go to the attributes menu inside the progression section in MyCareer, you can see your OVR rating inside a circle at the top of the menu. You’ll also see a smaller circle below your OVR rating, indicating your current max OVR rating. This determines how high your OVR rating can go before you max it out and use VC to raise your stats. To raise the max OVR, you need to earn more MyPoints.
As you continue to increase your max OVR, the MyPoints needed to do so become more and more expensive. This means you need to continually earn more of them to increase the max OVR.
You can earn MyPoints by playing and performing well in games and completing MyCareer objectives. The better you play and the more you accomplish, the more MyPoints you earn in 2K25. It’ll be slow going at first and for most of the playthrough, as the game doesn’t want you to increase your max OVR too fast or get to 99 OVR too fast, either.
So, filling up the meter with MyPoints tends to be a snail-like grind, but as long as you play enough and continually perform well season after season, you’ll eventually reach the vaunted 99 OVR rating. Or, you’ll at least get the chance to be 99 OVR; getting enough VC to max out your player’s stats is a whole other matter.
And that’s everything we have on using MyPoints in NBA 2K25. While they might seem like a currency you can spend, all you have to do with them is sit back and watch as the progression meter fills up so you can boost your player’s OVR in MyCareer.
