Need For Speed Unbound Vol. 9 and Patch 9.0.1 Available Today

EA and Criterion Games have released Need for Speed Unbound Vol. 9: Prepare for Lockdown today for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, along with patch 9.0.1. This update introduces a high-stakes PvPvE multiplayer mode with extraction-based gameplay, inspired by Need for Speed Most Wanted. Additionally, for the first time in the franchise’s history, players can ride a motorcycle—the BMW S 1000 RR 2019—exclusively in the new Lockdown mode.

Lockdown introduces a new layer to Unbound’s street racing experience, enabling players to assemble crews of up to three members and face off against rival teams. In this mode, racers undertake Contracts, breach Lockup zones, maneuver through the Lockdown Zone and secure the Extraction truck. Successful teams are rewarded with some of the game’s rarest vehicles, including the legendary custom BMW M3 GTR ’05—Razor’s iconic car from Most Wanted—as well as 14 other Blacklist-inspired classics.

Vol. 9 also features new PvP content, including 14 playlists with over 60 routes and event configurations. These playlists showcase a variety of themes, like the franchise’s first motorcycle-exclusive events, special challenges honoring Need for Speed’s 30th anniversary, races inspired by Most Wanted, new Drift Pro challenges and much more. The update also introduces a new Speed Pass and an optional Premium track, offering 75 tiers of unlockable rewards, including the fully customizable SUBARU Impreza WRX STI ’99 and Honda Integra Type R ’98.
