One Year of Dynasty Mode in EA Sports College Football 25 From Not The Expert

It seems like EA is beginning to let the floodgates open from a media perspective, and so long-time dynasty mode fiend Not The Expert was able to release a look at one full year of dynasty mode in EA Sports College Football 25.

Not The Expert (Drewski/Drew) is a dynasty mode legend. You might know him from the UGF Pandas playthroughs on YouTube, but even if you don’t know him, just believe me that he’s a trusted member of the community.

In his playthrough, he took us through one year using a one-star school. In this example, he rocked with Kennesaw State and took us through clips of a bunch of games in between recruiting and showing off various elements of dynasty mode.

I urge you all to watch the video, but if you don’t have time to scope it all out, I want to give you some of the info from the video. Also it’s worth noting that this build is not final so there’s tuning and bugs that may have been in here that won’t be in the final release.

  • There are only two coach attires to select when creating your coach. The options for how you look are much deeper, but the two attire options are basically just ripped from Madden.
  • There have been some concerns about how QB accuracy will look during games because there’s a focus on “misthrows” now being offline but still catchable. However, it seems that is still ratings-dependent because some of the throws by the Kennesaw State QB were way offline (likely due to worse ratings) and in no way catchable.
  • He also got absolutely blasted by Georgia, 72-10.
  • He was able to secure one five-star recruit (the second-best QB in the country) even as a one-star school (which was the first time he had been able to do that he said). A lot of things seemed to fall in his favor to pull it off, so I would not expect that to happen too often.
  • He heavily focused on a small group of prospects right from the beginning of recruiting. This means he was able to get that one five star and a couple four-star recruits, but had a very small recruiting class. It basically seems like you have to pick depth or a pursuit of stars with these weaker schools, but I would still say it was a surprisingly successful first year. I’m not ready to say he made it look like recruiting is “easy” because he still struck out on most of the five-star and four-star guys he pursued, but he still was able to snag more than I would have expected.
  • In part I don’t want to make too many judgments because there’s still a transfer portal and players leaving is a way bigger threat in this game so there’s never a guarantee your best players will stick around either.
  • That said, because you don’t know the “skill caps” of players until they’re on campus, some of the players he recruited ended up having pretty low skill caps and thus will have lower potential unless you really focus on your specific coaching skill trees, which I thought was cool.
  • He found a 100 speed recruit. I’m not sure if that’s a bug or not, but he found a four-star recruit who was an athlete with that impressive attribute. He went all-in for the four-star freak, but Drew didn’t make the top 3 and couldn’t secure him.
  • The final four in the College Playoff in year one was Oregon, USC, Clemson, and Ohio State.
  • He was able to get both coaches he wanted during the Coaching Carousel.
  • Simulated stats were on the low end, especially for running backs. There were only a handful of 1,000+ yard rushers, maybe in part due to Wear and Tear.
  • He started the first offseason with the 86th best recruiting class, largely because he just didn’t have a ton of recruits but was able to get some high-quality players.
  • After the transfer portal closed, he was up to the 40th best class.
  • The game does have real records for college football in here so Case Keenum has the record for most passing yards in a career and so on.
  • In terms of player editing for recruits, you can’t edit numbers or faces. You can change name, style, position, handedness, physique, and gear. The number is the big one, and we had heard rumors about that even before this video. I don’t think you can edit player ratings either, or at least he didn’t showcase that.
