Recruitment, which is the core of any college football game, is done rather well. It’s not perfect, and you may still watch as your top-recruit that you’ve spent the entire season scouting decides to leave last minute for a more significant, better program, but that’s all part of the lore of college football. Overall though, I think Wolverine Studios does a great job of capturing the essence of the sport and keeps things remaining fresh throughout your dynasty run.

Early release starts Thursday night, so where’s the MLB The Show hype level at right now?

It does not seem like a paradigm shift or anything like that for the old version of the sliders, but for those who maybe are interested in the game a bit more after the latest patch update, these are career mode focused sliders.

Whether green releases should exist or not is one topic of discussion that comes up quite often, but something else I’m curious to hear feedback on revolves around the theoretical NBA 2K gameplay mechanic of “decay” and how you all would like to see it implemented.

The 2K and NFL are back together. Even though it’s just “non-simulation” for now, what do you expect and how excited are you for NFL 2K’s return?

Authenticity in sports games is something that’s loved here at Operation Sports. I imagine that love goes beyond Operation Sports because authentic touches are something universal. They are part of the experience of going to a stadium, playing a sport and having a favorite team. If you make a simulation sports video game, I imagine one of the pillars of that is focusing on authenticity. This is why something small like the MLB The Show 20 stadium advertisements being updated to be more authentic are a small but cool touch.

When San Diego Studio announced MLB The Show 20 would feature a launch roster full of real minor leaguers, including face scans and audio cues, it caught the entire community off-guard. After all, this was a feature that was in the past ultimately included in the game through community roster creators after a certain period of time — otherwise known as OSFM Full Minors. Still, those community rosters could never match the capabilities of SDS because they didn’t have the same tools. Real face scans, real audio cues, real motion captured prospect stances — it all provided a ton of promise to gamers looking for the most authentic experience possible.

For me, that’s where the magic lies in this year’s edition — under the hood. From the new throwing meter to the new the fielding mechanics, to the overall player movement, it just plays better as a whole. Is there one thing I can point out that makes this year’s on-field action drastically different than 2019? That answer is, honestly, no. It is the culmination or aggregate of all the sums that creates a much different and authentic feel to the overall way the game plays out when on defense. I found this to be true not only to me visually, but also in the way it handled for me via the controller.

If there is anything else you would like to see in the OS weekly wrap-up, feel free to let us know in this post. Otherwise, enjoy getting caught up and we will see you next Sunday.
