Special Versions of Rafael Devers and David Robertson Enter Packs in MLB The Show 25

Two more high-value cards have dropped.

Diamond Dynasty mode in MLB The Show 25 is now in full swing. Not only is there plenty of content to grind for, but there’s currently a Double PXP promotion going on, which should make said grind all the easier for the next few days. But what about the content itself?

Well, as has become typical over the last year, MLB The Show 25 is keeping its juiciest content tucked away in packs, forcing players to fork out their hard-earned stubs either on the packs themselves in the hopes of nabbing one or by buying them on the marketplace.

Despite this being a frustrating development for a game that has handled its card-collecting mode much better than its contemporaries, the content is worth talking about.

Rafael Devers And David Robertson Look Like Fun

First, let’s start with the top dog: The Chase Pack reward. This week, it’s Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers with a card based on his 2021 All-Star campaign.

To put it as simply as I possibly can, Devy is a demon! The third baseman has great contact against both righties and lefties, and has overwhelming power against the former (though his 80 power against lefties ain’t too shabby either). The 100 Clutch on the card is also going to be nice. The only issue with Devers is his fielding attributes and lack of a first base secondary.

Devers’ key attributes are as follows:

  • 92 Contact R
  • 91 Contact L
  • 110 Power R
  • 80 Power L
  • 70 Vision
  • 62 Discipline
  • 100 Clutch
  • 35 Bunt
  • 25 Drag Bunt
  • 60 Fielding
  • 67 Arm Strength
  • 70 Arm Accuracy
  • 52 Speed
  • 15 Stealing
  • 20 Baserunning Aggressiveness

Being a Chase Pack reward, Devers is gonna be pretty expensive until the release of the next one. But that isn’t to say that more affordable cards haven’t been unavailable. This week’s top reward in Headliners Packs — which seem to be juiced right now — is veteran relief pitcher David Robertson.

We’ve talked about bullpens in Diamond Dynasty and how they’ve been lacking when it comes to quality arms. Robertson will hardly be God’s gift to your relief pitching problems, but he does boast decent-enough attributes to be a handy and tricky arm.

Right off the rip, you’ll notice one glaring thing — the pitch mix. Unlike his Live Series card, which possesses a five-pitch mix, Robertson’s 2022 Postseason card only has three — a cutter, knuckle-curve, and a slider. This is certainly a downgrade considering the lack of an arm-side action pitch, but it’s in the per-9 attributes where this card truly shines:

  • 27 Stamina
  • 111 H/9
  • 104 K/9
  • 48 BB/9
  • 86 HR/9
  • 125 Pitching Clutch
  • 80 Control
  • 80 Velocity
  • 99 Break

Obviously, Robertson isn’t going to give you a lot in terms of velocity and control. That said, his card has max pitching clutch and extremely high H/9 and K/9, which could be useful at this time where most of your Live Series relievers won’t have such attributes.
