It’s been long overdue to highlight The Bulgarian Brothers, which is one of the longest-running franchise mode stories (going since 2020!) being run by one of the glue guys of Dynasty HQ in OS user studbucket.
The conceit is simple enough with twin brothers being born and eventually going on winding paths to coaching. The creativity and storytelling here is great, and it has the added layer of taking place in two separate games to keep things even more fresh.
At this point, the NBA 2K and College Hoops 2K stories have gone on winding paths, but everything is always very digestible in studbucket’s write-ups. On top of that, there’s plenty of multimedia and there’s always attention to making sure we know what else is happening around the leagues.
Beyond that, reading stuff like studbucket’s write-ups just makes me all the more wistful for a new College Hoops 2K game. Seeing EA Sports College Football 25 back in the news only intensifies that, but it’s awesome that we still have such dedicated people keeping games like College Hoops 2K8 alive with amazing content like this.
