Whether it’s rebuilds, programs ready to win now, or getting a feel for every team in general for dynasty mode, there’s going to be no shortage of options when it comes picking your squad.
OS user thescoop has put together another list of the top 10 “on the verge” teams for dynasty mode. These are teams that are contending and ready to win now, but are probably not in that top tier group who would be favored to win it all this year.
Top 10 Teams “On the Verge”
10. Notre Dame – The first three represent “honorable mentions” from my rebuilds list. One could argue that Notre Dame is already a power since they have made the playoffs more recently. That’s why I have them lowest on the list. But they have no title since ’88, and while good, can’t get over the hump.
9. Penn State – Another one that is good but can’t get over the hump. Getting Penn State to dethrone Ohio State and Michigan would be a lot of fun.
8. Tennessee – The Vols have been on an upswing as of late but still haven’t gotten back to a SEC title game. The have a rich history and bringing them back could be fun.
7. Oklahoma State – Are they the clear front runner of the Big 12 now that Texas and OU have left for the SEC? Maybe you can make sure they run the place.
6. Louisville – Right on the verge it seems all the time. Maybe you can be the one to get them to finally make that jump. And the new 17-member ACC would be a fun challenge.
5. Iowa – This team has been in the fight a few times but can’t seem to become a power. And you get the cool wave at the Children’s Hospital animation for every home game.
4. Auburn – Take on Alabama right in their own backyard. This one might be a challenge but Auburn has climbed that mountain before. Can you make them the dominate team of the state?
3. Florida – The Gators have been trying to claw back since Urban Meyer left. The program has been stuck in the middle of the pack. Can you be the guy to get them back to the promised land?
2. Wisconsin – Always in the hunt but can’t seem to get in the national title race. Expanded playoffs could help. Maybe you can become the team in the Big 10.
1. Ole Miss – This program is on the rise and has a lot of hope and expectations going into this season. They could be a lot of fun to control and push over the hump. They are on the verge it seems but we’ve heard that before. Maybe you can finally make it happen.
