“this year the phasing includes the effect of revenue recognition from the games we are launching for the current generation of consoles that can also be upgraded free for the next generation.”

It’s not exactly clear how the process will work. Microsoft does have their Smart Delivery technology, allowing you to buy a game once and know that, whether you are playing it on Xbox One or Xbox Series X, you are getting the right version of that game on whatever Xbox you’re  playing on.

While Sony hasn’t announced anything specific for the PlayStation 5, it’s probably a good bet they have something similar. Both next generation consoles will support backwards compatibility, so maybe a nice large patch, call it “enhanced” and be done with it?

Either way, EA has some sort of plan, it seems.
