College Football 25 has continued to be popular here on OS even after its release in the summer of 2024. While there seems to be a sequel on the way, PC players have repeatedly wondered if they’ll get the chance to play the current entry in the series.
When College Football 25 was released, it could only be played on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This was slightly disappointing to the PC fans, as EA has delivered more PC ports recently for its sports game franchises. However, the hope was that after some exclusivity time for consoles, EA would eventually bring the College Football franchise to PC. So is that plan in motion or are PC players simply out of luck for College Foootball this year and beyond?
Is College Football 26 Coming To PC?

Obviously, College Football 25 is not coming to PC. The real college football season ended this past Monday, and it just wouldn’t make sense for EA to release the game on PC at this point. Since the launch of the game, EA has not made any public comments on the possibility of it coming to any additional platforms either. If we look at EA’s history and current lineup of sports games, though, it seems like there is a possibility College Football 26 could eventually arrive on PC.
For starters, EA has invested time in developing PC ports for its flagship sports titles. Most notably, Madden has received an official PC version (via Steam) for years now (and on the current-gen engine).
FIFA (or EA FC) has also seen PC releases for over a decade at this point. While the ports for both franchises started out rocky, they’re generally in a decent place now in terms of performance and gameplay features — and, again, both these games are on PC with the current-gen engine.
Why Hasn’t A PC Port Happened Yet?

So, the question remains, why wouldn’t EA want College Football to join its two titan sports franchises on PC, especially when it was the best selling game of 2024 on just two current-gen consoles? It could be due to a number of factors, but the current state of College Football 25 should give PC owners some hope.
Since College Football 25 was developed strictly for the current-gen consoles, it should have an easier time being ported over to PC. This could result in a quicker turnaround time for a possible port if that’s indeed what EA has planned. If the game was also developed for the PS4 and Xbox One, there might not be that same desire for extra PC sales (not to mention which version would get ported to PC).
However, with Madden and EA FC, EA has an abundance of experience developing sports games on PC for both last and current-gen consoles. I mean, EA FC has been running on the dinosaur that is the Nintendo Switch for several years, so it seems like if EA wanted to develop a PC port, it has the experience and resources to do so, regardless of what platforms College Football is on (we’ll ignore the quality of FC 25 on Switch for the sake of this point).
Of course, that’s only one side of the coin. We don’t know what EA is dealing with behind closed doors in trying to develop a PC port, or if the company is even interested in making one due to any potential lingering legal concerns. EA clearly tried to put some walls up as it relates to player editing, sharing rosters, and so on, and this would be complicated by a PC release.
With the arrival of College Football 26 likely coming sometime in the summer of 2025, the developers are presumably crunching to get that game ready for release. Perhaps there’s simply no time for a PC port to be developed now that the franchise has a firm foothold in the sports game genre yet again.
Suffice to say, there are plenty of questions around the PC version of College Football 26, and until EA says something official, we won’t get many answers to those questions. There are rumors floating around that College Football wouldn’t come to PC for a few years at the earliest, but we’ve also heard rumblings that a PC port could come sooner than players think, so for now, all we can do is wait.
Hopefully, as 2025 goes on, we’ll hear more from unofficial or official sources about a possible PC version for College Football 26.
