Draft Class Combines Color Coding?
Have we figured out if amateur draft color coding (Red, Blue, Gray, Green) by position for each skill is the same for FOF7? If so, have we ever published that before? I'm looking for it if anybody can dig it up.

There is a description near the bottom of the draft window. I think blue is superior, green is great, red is bad. Should be there

I think Mike means that he'd like to know whether the number scales in FOF2007 that would turn red, blue or green still are the same in FOF7.

Yeah, I want the actual numbers.
For example QB SOL > 40 = Red QB SOL 35-39 = Blue QB SOL <28 = Green (I just guessed at those #, but that's the idea) I might have some old material from testing from years ago, but I don't know if it's any good or not. |

I was holding out against hope that this existed elsewhere. The closest thing is probably what jdavidbaker did in Conscriptor, but that's not all the color coding. I've worked my way through QB, RB, FB, TE, WR, T, and G and it's really a giant pain in the ass, so I'm pretty sure this doesn't exist anywhere like what I was hoping for.
I would love to change the color coding so that Red only showed scores that equaled 600+ but unfortunately it's not that simple. |

I totally hear you and agree; my suspicion is that it was intentionally not that simple.

Wouldn't this be pretty simple (if a touch time-consuming) to put together? Open a stage with the draft pool in the old game, sort and look for color change points. Then do the same in the new game. I think the curves are probably smooth enough that you would be able to see that 4.50 = blue, 4.51 = nothing or whatever.

That is easy enough to do. I'm really not too interested in whether they are the same or not though since all I really care about are the new codes (and honestly they sure feel the same...lots of Red offensive lineman SOL scores for instance). Plus, I've already uninstalled FOF2k7. I was mostly hoping to steal somebody else's hard work from the FOF2k7 days and apply it to FOF7. Once I am done grinding this out, I'll post the results. |

This is based off of 1 draft, which surprisingly provided ~90% of the solution. Still, it could be a bit more refined.
For instance, some of the OLB and CB/S #'s didn't provide enough for all Red, Blue, Black, and Green numbers to be present. I'm sure I'll refine it over time but since I don't plan to mess with this again real soon, I wanted to throw it out there. All #'s represent logic for a GREATER THAN scenario. (For example, an offensive tackle needs > 36 for RED status.) (NOTE: Having Red, Blue, Black, and Green rows ended up being inaccurate...ultimately, I am tracking the breakpoints between Red-Blue, Blue-Black, and Black-Green, I should've cleaned that up before posting, but I think you get the idea.) Nice work!
This will be a good resource for league webpages wanting to enhance their rookie pages. I'm sure the RNFL stands to have some cool updates on the way. I believe the old Conscriptor highlighting only went green and blue because jdavidbakr could not find a good defining line between blue and red. But I think it will just be a SQL table update to modify colors in Conscriptor which I'll look into soon. |

Here's an output using this color coding for reference.
RNFL Draft Eligible Players Disregard the player links on that page, the are linked back to a Conscriptor page that is no longer active. When the RNFL hits the new draft class, I'll be updating links so that this page links directly to Conscriptor (well, I'm hopeful of that anyway). Last edited by Dutch : 03-21-2014 at 06:26 PM. |
